How about leaving work a little early and riding today?

November 1, 2007. It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Anyone want to leave work early and do a little riding? I could talk off any time.

Troy, I thought about you as I road past your office yesterday while you were hard at work.

I left the house and road to Parkville and took the road along the river to Farley. I road some gravel around Farley for a while and then headed home along the interstate. I detoured at Wyandotte County Lake on the way home because I enjoy riding the curves around the lake.

The trees were pretty, the air was brisk, it was a beautiful fall afternoon to ride!

The gravel roads are disappearing fast in that area! They've already paved two of my favorites up there. They make great sport bike roads now.

I detoured at Wyandotte County Lake on the way home because I enjoy riding the curves around the lake.

That is a beautiful little lake, and the roads around it are great. Unfortunately, the speed limit is 10 or 15 -- it's hard to even drive my truck that slow. It idles faster than 10MPH. I have to ride the brake most of the way around that lake. But, that is better than running over a crowd of school children on picnic.

When you look at some maps, there used to be a road that ran mostly E to W on the North side of the lake at the bottom of the valley. If you scout around, you can find where it was. The East end of the closed section is in a neighborhood. The road just dead-ends at a huge chain-link fence with the asphalt continuing on into the now brush covered landscape. Anybody know the history of this road? Look at this map--Wolcott Drive used to connect E to W along the railroad tracks.

Oh to have two wheels at work...... It's nice out. I at lunch with my mother. She just got two hearing aids that cost as much as my 650...

If my memory serves, that road is the old damn maintenance road.

It used to connect to West drive on the other side of the dam...

I use to spend a lot of time around Farley. We had a farm there. http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=h&q1=mcliney ... 9398&mag=3 It has been a number of years sense I was in the area. I'm surprised how much it has changed.

Holy Cow, Eddie! The "road" to the farm is even named after your family on the map. That is some nice country there.

So...do you know the history of that BEAUTIFUL stone barn that is just a bit N of Farley and can be seen from Hwy 45. It is on the E side of 45.

That road goes through our old place. However, we did not name the road and no one pronounces it properly. LOL It is a beautiful area.

I have seen the barn for years and don't know anything about it. In the past you could not see it as well as you can now. One time I stopped by to ask but no one was there.
