Track Day

Post by Car94 »

If any of you want to come, the 1st track day at Heartland Park Topeka is Sunday.
Dont need a sport bike, 3 classes with control riders. I have ridden my XR650 in level 2 out there, with my 80/20 dirt tires. Or if you want you can get there about 10 am and sign up for the parade laps at noon. Depending on the control riders it can be a lot of fun and if you have never been its a way to get on track without Taping up your bike and you do not have to have full leathers. You do have to have full gear for track day sessions.

That sounds cool. So you can show up at 10AM just to do the parade laps and you don't have to tape up or have full leathers. How many parade laps do you get to take? Does it cost anything? Do you just enter on the east side where the racers always go in? Would I get a bunch of sideways looks if I showed up on an old Harley? (it doesn't leak too much) LOL!! I've raced on the dragstrip before and always thought it would be cool to take a couple laps of the road course.

All you need is a Motorcycle,Helmet, Any M/C jacket, Gloves and Any kind of Boots. No tennis shoes. You usually get 5 to 10 laps depending on how many show up, and if its a big crowd, then the earlier you show up the better. Spectating and parade laps are free. You go in the tunnel entrance on the back side. All bikes welcome I have seen everthing from Wings to scooter's do parade laps!
:( :( Sorry But I was just told that the parade slots are full. You can ride out and try in case people don't show. :|

That's too bad it's full. I was worried they may only give you 1 or 2 laps but 5 to 10 is worth coming out for. There must be some way to sign up in advance? Is this an organization that has a website where you can check for track day dates and the availability of parade laps? I'll show up at 10ish and nose around a bit. If I can't get in a group that's cool. I was planning on burnin' dirt at BS later today anyway. Thanks for the notification/post.
