Dualsportmaps.com
Just wanted to say a big thanks to whoever started posting up more tracks on the website!!!

Re: Dualsportmaps.com
I registered today, lots of interesting stuff. The overlays for Motor Vehicle Use maps could make dealing with that almost tolerable. They also appear to show parcels of private land and wilderness boundaries.
Re: Dualsportmaps.com
Foster, that was me posting up some KC-local tracks.
Katbeanz, I totally agree--the MVUMs are basically unusable as they come from the USFS. You can't make heads or tails out of them. Dualsportmaps.com allows you to just select to show the MVUM overlayed on the Google map. VERY NICE!
You can create your own overlays, too! I'm going to try to figure it out so I can create overlays using all the KS county maps! Those maps give you a TON of detail not found in other maps.
I'm still learning how to use dualsportmaps.com, but I encourage everyone to start using it and donate money to CraftyCoder. He is doing an amazing job with the application.
A couple of years ago, several folks on here wanted help in using their GPS units and making routes. Eddie was kind enough to do a "GPS tutorial" get-together for us, but I was the only one who came. If enough folks show interest, it would be good to have a pizza night, break out the projector and laptop and folks can share their methodologies and tips.

Re: Dualsportmaps.com
Sounds good to me, then again anything involving pizza sounds good to me
An easy way to support the app is to buy the mobile app. It is pricey for an app at $20 but I really liked what he was doing with the application and the website and felt like I had to buy it to support future development.
Troy- I figured it had to be you since the routes posted by spot said Troy next to it...

Foster, your profile says "Leavenworth". I had been assuming you were "Foster" that lives up N of the Liberty, MO area, but I now realize his username is "f-five" for Foster 5...3 kids + wife makes 5 or something like that. I helped my brother, KC, buy a KTM 400 from him.
So we haven't met have we? You missed a really good ride yesterday. Seriously, I was more than pleased with how the route turned out and the group was a great bunch of folks who stuck with it even though we did about 160 miles from Leavenworth up to White Cloud and back PLUS folks had to ride home--another 80 miles for me round trip.

Troy- No, I have not had the pleasure just yet. I really wanted to make it yesterday but just couldn't swing it. Y'all met up about four minutes from my house
No kids, just the wife and me outside of downtown Leavenworth. I will make it to a ride soon though. I rode with a guy from Weston named Chris on Saturday and we had a good run on a route that he got from you out on some dirt roads west of Leavenworth. Limit, mT. Olivet, and the like. Good times. I did still manage to get almost two hundred miles in yesterday despite missing the group ride though.

Dualsportmaps.com - Weston Ride
Ok, so I tried this out. Here is my first attempt on the site...
http://dualsportmaps.com/?link=103005
I built the route using the good bits of various tracks, got them pointed in the right direction, linked them up, all in basecamp. I exported to a gpx, then uploaded. I used the sites waypoint drag feature to clean up the end point.
Nice site and tool. I'd pony up some pizza money and time for a gps class. Maybe some discussions about how to use tracks to build routes for various devices. Like my nuvi 500 builds routes differently (uses waypoints) than say a c60x.

I got the Droid download and mounted a small Pelican case to a Ram Mount on my bars. I need to go out and give it a spin. Also I made a little lunch run from work and made a map. Good Times.
