I got the opportunity to explore the Randolph ORV area this past Saturday. I have to say I was really impressed and had a GREAT time on the KTM 450 EXC!

I had heard about this area for a few years but always got the impression that with it's focus on rock crawling and 4x4's, it had little to offer motorcycles. Yes it is a 4x4 focused trail area (those poor guys have even less places to play than we do), but we found plenty to play on for many hours. We were there during a Kansas Krawlers event--so it was very crowded with people parking out on the side of the road because the lot was mostly full. Even with that crowd, we were able to ride in areas without any congestion. Plenty of hill climbs, valleys, dry creeks, woods, rocks, bluffs, etc. to play with. Of course there are also rock ledges for the rock crawlers that only a good trials rider could think about riding on...but the area offers so much more than that.

We did see a small number of other motorcycles and ATV's there but rarely met anyone on the trail.

We did not find any singletrack, but there is some quad track. Most of it is of course 4x4 wide. Don't let that scare you away--it gets plenty technical, as technical as you want and more I'm sure.

I'll say I liked it a lot more than Perry and probably not as much as School Creek, but close.

This park has a lot of rock ledges if you like that sort of thing. Big ledges, little ledges, they are everywhere. It can get pretty crowded with jeeps at times. It was a decent park for my family and I. We had a klr 650, razor 570, and a drz 400. The razor and the drz were much better suited but the klr 650 did ok. We don't have near as much experience as Troy and spent a fair amount of time going slow and just getting a feel for the area and finding out where we didn't want to be. It made a great weekend though.
We stayed at the nearby Randolph State Park across the lake, the nearest running water campground. The campground was nice but just FYI there are TWO showers per bathroom and no divider. Fine for some but maybe not for everyone. The campground is exposed though. If you have nasty weather there will not be much to shelter your tent from the elements.
This park is worth your time if you haven't been there but I think I liked riding out of camp at Finger Lakes State Park a little more. Having to load and unload my parent's razor was not ideal.

Here are some pictures and a VERY slow video to give you a better idea of what the area has to offer. My dad was very very slow on his razor and so we were crawling through the park but you get an idea anyway.
