38th Annual Quarry Cup
http://www.matt-trials.com/events.html
On Sat & Sun, Sep 17 & 18, 2011, the Mid-America Trials Team (M.A.T.T) hosts the 38th Annual Quarry Cup competition in Trenton, MO.
I don't have a lot of details for you and the start times are still TBD, but I've been in past years, and there was competition to watch most of the day. You can make an enjoyable dualsport ride out of getting to Trenton and back. I HIGHLY recommend the Amish restaurant in Jamesport, MO.
Ride to Jamesport, eat, ride to Trenton, watch trials, ride home. A good day.
Attended in 2010

Re: Sep 17 & 18 2011: Trials Competition!
Hey, fbj913, sorry for the silence on my part! I was out in Tahoe all last week---probably the most beautiful place in the entire country. (Arguable of course.) I think I've made plans to haul my KTM out to Manhattan to spend some time with my brother. If something prevents that trip, I'd like to go see the trials.
PLEASE do go and I hope some guys pipe up to tag along. It really is fun and you'll enjoy the time.
Here is where the trials are--once at the quarry, follow the tiny signs. Point B is the quarry near Trenton, MO. Point A is the Dutch Pantry restaurant in the Amish town of Jamesport that I highly recommend for a wonderful home-cooked meal.
Google Map
Lots of ways to get up there. If you take "back roads", it will take a long time--so enjoy the ride. Highway H from Liberty to Excelsior Springs is good. Another nice dining option is the Wabash BBQ in Excelsior Springs.
If you ride the gravel roads up around Jamesport, you'll no doubt come across working Amish with their horse-drawn wagons. PLEASE go slow and easy on the the throttle!
Enjoy the ride!

It must be dead around here. I dont think I am going to get a reply.

It is a bit surprising that folks are not coming out of the woodwork to ride with the weather FINALLY turning for us. I think a lot of people have their own things going. For example, I am riding this weekend, but it's not a group thing--some bonding time with my brother.
I know others who have riding plans of their own. And of course there is this group ride offered this Sat as well.

So folks have options. For what its worth, I never got anyone but safiri to join me for previous trials competition event rides in the past. I've tried to sell how fun they are, but either folks don't get excited about trials or other things get in the way. I am mesmerized watching those guys dance with their motorcycles over crazy difficult obstacles.

Troy, I'm a huge trials fan too. The local club riders are a blast to watch and the national caliber riders are just flat amazing. I'd encourage anyone that has an interest in motorcycles to attend an observed trial. You'll be a fan too. Two more events coming up in the area are Douglass, KS on Oct 1-2 and Braggs, Ok on Oct 15-16.

I might have been up for this but the weather forecast is looking a little wet this weekend. Trenton is a little far from home for me when there is a good chance of thunderstorms.

Carry some $20 raingear from Walmart (hunting dept) and enjoy the ride! I've been intimidated by chance of rain a few times, BUT, at the end of the day, I was always glad I went regardless of the weather. Hope for rain--it keeps the dust down. I'm pretty confident rain will not stop the trials.stimmer6253472 wrote:I might have been up for this but the weather forecast is looking a little wet this weekend. Of course a complete torrential downpour sucks to ride in....but that is kind of rare.

Yeah Troy I usually ride in the rain out of necessity not choice. With the apartments, work, kids, wife I don't want to waste a ride pass on a rainy day. That being said I got the tire replaced and I am ready to ride.
I guess everyone has seen this by now but if not pretty amazing.

WHOA! No, I had not seen that. Thanks for sharing it! In the video, you can actually see that his left foot was in the fire as they pull him out.stimmer6253472 wrote:I guess everyone has seen this by now but if not pretty amazing.

It was not rare for me on my trip earlier this month. I got caught in the remnants of Hurricane Lee in PA on Sept 5. And then on Sept 11 a storm in Charleston, WV that dumped 5 inches in 10 minutes that had me riding through flooded roads.troy wrote: Of course a complete torrential downpour sucks to ride in....but that is kind of rare.
I'm still drying out from all the rain.
