Colorado 11

Back from a couple weeks in Colorado, almost 1300 miles of the good stuff, but nothing too wild.

Those pictures brought back a lot of my own memories. Awesome time to be out there.

Some good shots there. I remember Stony Pass as having corners full of loose stones that gave the sensation of riding on marbles. Fun stuff.

Last time I'd done Stony was years ago, then Kite Lake and Beartown, I recalled the Pole Creek crossing being deep and wide.
We didn't go down that far this time, my buddy Randy did the nav work routing us on a 4wd trail that started about where Pole Creek singletrack ends and looped back east to come out hwy 149.
We camped up on Slumgullion ~11,300 ft, had a buncha deer and one moose come into camp, but luckily no bears.

So how did your guys bikes run up there? Did u have to rejet?

Normally, I do rejet, but in this case I used a stock CV carb with jetting for our elevation. It ran fairly clean, and fuel mileage was acceptable.

I'll hit Devro up for the gps stuff, more than likely he'll oblige us.

Sorry, but it's not my route. My brother has been dabbling in guiding off-road adventures for maybe 20 years and is considering guiding or selling maps for his retirement supplementary income.

He's got a LOT of miles and a LOT of time into his routes: I think you understand.

He's an awesome guide and even learns of the history and geology of an area he's traveling so he can give little talks and such.

He can guide via bicycle, 4X4 trucks and is now learning motorcycle. He doesn't do dog sleds, snowmobiles, airplanes or mules (yet)! LOL

If it were my route I'd throw it out there, but it's not. And besides, anyone who can read a map, does his homework, doesn't mind getting lost a little bit, can re-route when needed and can read a paper map could make a similar route.

All the "backways" we were on are published on maps by the USFS, Nat Parks or BLM.

Thanks for checking and I fully understand. Having created routes, I know how much work goes into them. If I considered guiding them, I wouldn't share them either. As to figuring it out on a map ... I'm pretty good at doing that!
