Centerstand for KLX400 ?
I just picked up a very nice Kawasaki KLX400SR (same as Suzuki DRZ400S), and am wondering if anyone makes a centerstand for these bikes ? I just sold a Suzuki DR650 which I had put a centerstand on and would like to do the same to this bike. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I take it that means no, huh ? It is just that a centerstand makes it so much easier to change the oil, lube the chain, fix a flat, etc., etc.... I'm not as young as I once was and will take most things that help, and the added 2 lbs. or so sure doesn't make any difference for my riding.... Just saying.

Jeeesh Savage!....I trust you know him with a comment like that
(even if you were referring to heavy, cumbersome motorcylces)
I'd have to have a DR650 and the DRZ400 side x side and take a few measurements first, but I'm thinking it might be possible to modify a centerstand to fit the DRZ?? Ground clearance wouldn't be the issue but the overall width of the motor might and that could be resolved with some spacers possibly. Just an idea off the top of my head with absolutely no research into the matter.

No I was just sitting myself up so Larry could come by and knock me down. But he failed. He had the opportunity to say that I was the one with the fat pig for a bike. You snooze you lose! (proud owner of a new KLR650)
Ahhh, pre-mix!!

Yes, I have been giving Quinton heap loads of crap about being a proud owner of a KLR. I think of most KLR owners as folks that don't know any better... and I thought he knew better. After owning many far superior bikes he decided to buy a "barcolounger with a death wish". Best farkles you can own with a KLR.... extensive first aid kit and a life insurance policy. 90% of the DS riders I have picked up off the road were KLR riders. Adequate on pavement, accident waiting to happen on gravel.
Are you happy Quinton, now everyone knows you dirty little secret!

Thanks for at least coming up with a helpful Idea KC, I appreciate it. Looks like that may be my only choice to try and make something else work. I'll have to do some checking. I have one of Steve's "enduro stands", and that helps a lot, but it would just be nice to have a centerstand also.
If anyone hears of a centerstand for a KLX400/DRZ400, I would appreciate a heads-up.... Thanks again.

Have you checked out ThumperTalk? The DRZ/KLX forum was the best and largest following on ThumperTalk when I owned a DRZ a few years back.

Thumper Talk ? No I have not, but I will, thanks H.M.
I see you have a F800GS, I love the looks of those bikes and think I would like one.
How do you like yours ?

I love it for what I got it for light dual sport and commuting. It is not a woods bike, but it will handle gravel and fire roads without any problems. Some inmates on ADV Rider think it is a woods bike and finding it is lacking in that area.BeemerBill wrote:Thumper Talk ? No I have not, but I will, thanks H.M.

Don't ride a F800 unless you are willing to pony up the money to buy one!Hank Moody wrote:I love it for what I got it for light dual sport and commuting. Compared to my 10 year old F650 GSD: night (F650) and day (F800). Similar in purpose, however.
Compared to the K100 I owned (I see you own a K75): just as smooth, if not more so. Add the ground clearance of my F650GSD to the smoothness and power of the K (at least until you hit 90 or so).
Now we have taken this thread way off topic of a stand for a KLX.
