I hit both places a couple years ago on my way to and from Alaska. Very neat if you have never been to them in western Kansas. Anyway, once home i always wondered how they got the name but never looked it up. While reading some history on Jesse James last week, i came across this.

Note. 22.5 cents a pound in 1865 is equivalent to $3.12 today. That is pretty cheap to ship a pound. Today UPS 1 pound shipping from KC to KCKS would cost $7.92.
