Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

Bill Dragoo represents US in BMW's South Africa GS Trophy

Post by troy »

All, I received this email from our friend, Bill Dragoo. For those of you who don't know, Bill is a journalist and photographer writing for motorcycle magazines. He also happens to be one of the best riders in the world. Several of us had the honor of riding with Bill in a 3 day Arkansas off-road adventure.

Bill puts together some fantastic slide shows, and here is another great one. The quoted email below explains what the slideshow is about.

Bill Dragoo wrote:As many of you know by now, I managed somehow to secure a place on the United States team for BMW's GS Trophy competition to be held in South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland this coming November. God graced me with two second place finishes in the Adventure Rider's Challenge earlier this month. My training will begin immediately for this challenging competition against some 11 countries. As the oldest member of the team by nearly double, I have my work cut out for me big time. The slide show depicts not only my ride out to LA with James Pratt, but our anniversary day at Cambria on the Pacific Coast, several dual sport rides through Northern California and my solo ride home over obscure mountain passes and through sacred indian lands where time seems to have been frozen more than 100 years ago. Enjoy the show and please take a few extra minutes to check out the associated links.

It took some time, but the slideshow from the first link is well worth the time. I paused it a few times and always came back to it. What a great trip Bill took, and what a great trip Bill is about to take.

Congrats, Bill!

He is a wonderful person and a great rider.

I have been with Bill on 5 or 6 rides. He was only able to pass me a couple of times  The catch is I had the gps and he had to follow me.

He is one fine person as well as a dam good rider. He will represent us well when he rides in Africa.

Thanks Troy, Having watched Eddie plow through Possum Creek on his GS, I am really impressed with the bike. It's pretty obvious that it takes a totally different set of skills to work such a big bike but it is awesome to watch. I'm sure you'll keep us posted on Bill's performance...
