Hillbilly Dualsort ride

Has anyone heard if the Hillbilly Dualsport ride out of Eureka Springs is on this year? I rode a couple of years ago and had a great time. I havn't seen any postings about it so I'm wondering if it is still on, where and when.

Try the Ride Oklahoma site. The thread has been pretty active with chatter and specifics. I haven't started building routes yet, need to get on it soon.

Hmmm....just OK? I see that the domain "ridegood.com" is taken, but "ridegreat.com" is available. A website at ridegreat.com would be way more awesomer than rideok.com.

I have the routes ready for this year:

The route were created with Garmin Mapsource Road & Rec. Each day's routes are divided in two parts. I do this to keep the route waypoints below 150, the route limit for some GPS units. The route files should be compatible with other Mapsource software. If you are using a Magellan or Lowrange, you will need to find software to convert the routes to your programs.
I reviewed the routes with Mapsource, Google Earth, and Arkansas county road maps. This said there is still no 100% guarantee any route is entirely passable. Good GPS skills/maps and you shuld be able to find a alternate way around obstacles

BuffaloAlt - This short deter goes over the the buffalo river instead of through the low water crossing.

LollarCreek - a really cool section that includes a water crossing of Lollar Creek.
PossumCreek - A 14.5 miles section starting at Patrick on Hwy 16 up to White Rock. A low maintenance section following a creek up towards White Rock. Shouldn't be attempted on a large bike or by a inexperienced rider.
YaleTrail - This is a 4.5mile ATV trail I have ridden on a DR650. Again not for large bikes or folks not comfortable with trail riding.

Each of the small alternate loops route back onto the main route. I have added red flagged waypoints to mark their beginning and end. Each day will be about 200 miles. If you get tired and want to bug out, there is plenty of opportunities to catch pavement back to Eureka Springs. I have also have waypoints for fuel. If you have a bike with a short fuel range, be sure to take advantage of fuel stops. There isn't more than 80 miles between fuel, but it could be as much as 140 miles to another stop.

Dang, says the site is too busy to download now. I mentioned to David I'd found a track from DRZCharlie on gpsxchange from Eureka to the ghost town of Rush, AR which was once a mining town, not too far from Jasper.
Devro led a group at the Fall Colors Tour that rode part of the tram trail, it was a tram railway that ran from Cass to Combs hauling timber.
At Mountain Crest there's a big two story rock building which according to an Idaho obituary I found was once a girl's school.

That Possum Creek road/trail is really a Jeep Rd. I've seen a regular looking 4WD truck go up it. That said, it would be a bugger on my Vstrom for sure! The South end of it is pretty steep uphill for a long way with a few switchbacks and lots of loose rocks and depending on recent rain, it can have small ravines washed out in the road. A DR650 with an experienced rider will be fine--an enjoyable challenge. I've always run it downhill from the South to the North.

The North end of that road that dumps out onto Hwy 16 is being logged. Every year it's wider and cut further South. The road runs right in and along the creek for quite a ways. If the water is high, look out!

Thanks for the heads up guys. I added the route file. Dang thought I had it figured out how to link from the server space provided by my internet provider.

I really liked the possum creek road. I'm having a hard time remembering the south end. Either it was uneventful, or so traumatic it triggered amnesia!

I confirm it does indeed work for me. I also confirm your uploaded file attachment also works. I was just looking at the route file--NICE WORK! I have an appreciation for how much effort it takes to put those together. You really pour a lot of yourself into making them great.

I have some Thursday or short routes ready for Eureka Springs. We traditionally try to do a Thursday afternoon ride.
These are also easier routes for folks not wanting to ride 200 mile routes or contend with low maintenance roads.

I plan on riding the Thursday2010 route.

A loaded GPS is your best bet, but Hard copy color maps are available for 4$ you will need to send a email to hemphill at sunflower dot com to let me know you want one. then send the money to me and a copy will be at the ride with your name on it. I will send you my address when you contact me.

The new owner said about 10 rooms are left as of 3 days ago. They own another motel close by so they will not run out of rooms. Same rate would apply for the other motel
