Riding Morocco: Chasing the Dakar

Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

Riding Morocco: Chasing the Dakar

Post by troy »

A motorcycle adventure will air on Friday, June 17 at 5 p.m. CST on the National Geographic channel.

Based on that promo pic, I hope the show is about real riding and not about the hottest styles in motorcycle clothing!

I'll watch it for the model and the Honda AT. I bet it turns into a Honda-funded marketing ploy disguised as a TV show.
Ahhh, pre-mix!!

"One rider, Christophe Barriere-Varju, has competed in the Dakar Rally four times. The other, Australian fashion model Laura Csortan, has never set a wheel off-road before."

This should be interesting. The bike she's on doesn't require a clutch, but it's also a 1000cc adventure bike.

I'm with Savage...sounds like a Honda advertisement disguised as a documentary.

This is exactly why I got into the gritty world of off-road motorcycle adventure--all the hot chicks. Everyone knows if you want to connect with uber-hot babes, just show up for an off-road motorcycle ride. The RideForum.NET membership stats reflect this pattern as well.

Nothing wrong with that--even encouraged. All are welcome at RideForm.NET, an LGBT-friendly community. Like my mom always said, "Nothin' the gays like more than rippin' through the woods on a 2-stroke!"

Ever since I joined this forum and started going on riding trips I've shared a bed or a tent with dudes about a dozen times. I dunno what that says about my sexuality but I'm comfortable with it.

This thread sounds like a story worth living. As a matter of fact, it reminds me of a quote in a book. I will read it for you all, just let me pull out my copy of Chronicles of Narnia.............
Anything with wheels is inherently dangerous. If you are concerned about your safety & well-being, I suggest walking, as a safe alternative

More Information! Other dirt rider's snoring gets me probably just as much as this old guy getting up in the middle of the night to go pee gets them.

The front brake stopped working on that 2013 500 EXC you sold me. I want my money back.
Do you still have a brand new 300 sitting in the garage? Man those things are sexy!

It would probably work if you would ride it. It doesn't like just getting pushed around in the garage.

One of the reports or videos of the 2017 300 was saying how the older 300s rattled you to death.
It's funny how they talk about it now that there is a new one. Just trying to sucker us into blowing more money!

Love it when a company markets their new product by disparaging their old product. Stupid. The truth comes out when it's to their advantage.

My 300 XC has vibration? Really? KTM must have hired Yamaha marketing people to say that so they could use that as proof. A small counter balancer might help in some of the RPM's range but it also adds weight. I think I will keep my "old" '14 until I see how easy it is to remove the "new" balance shaft. And the electric starter, under the engine, where it will never be submerged in water for any length of time. There is a block off plate / seal opportunity for you machinists! You too can get rich!

Troy, you don't listen, do you? I told you to never touch that front brake lever since it could put you over the handlebars! Did you listen? NOOOOO!

Well then, problem fixed I guess! That lever does nothing when you pull it now. 8)

Can I have that dramatic music for my crashes trying some of that stuff those guys make look easy in the video? And...I can put my scratched up chest protector on now with serious purpose rather than just tossing it on while waiting for the bike to warm up, something that they demonstrated to be completely unnecessary. And video and post my stirring up clear streams, an activity that is certain to not be noticed by greenies?

The bike appears to be the XC-W model rather than the XC so the moto footage is all the more impressive.
