Calling All Keihin Carb Gurus !!!

Post by KC »

I am pretty good at rebuilding and cleaning carburetors but am unfamiliar with my Keihin FCR39 on my KTM. It has been running crappy in the closed to at least 1/4 throttle position for a while now. It only runs "good" with the choke on as far as not wanting to take a dive when I close the throttle or hesitating when I need to WOT over an obstacle. I adjusted the fuel screw in and out to see if it was just off a little. It never got much better. Another important thing is that the idle screw doesn't seem to effect engine speed at idle with choke OFF. I am thinking I have a clogged Pilot Jet ?? I took it completely off the bike to take a peek and also to see what Main Jet and Needle I have installed...178 Main and OBDVR Needle. I didn't strip it down and clean it because I wanted to get some advice first. I also need to re-jet for Colorado soon so I have two questions...What do you think is causing my closed to 1/4 throttle problem and what jetting would you recommend for 8000ft. BTW, the bike has run awesome w/ current setup for a couple of years.
Any advice would be appreciated. :)
