Where: Applebees, 11000 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS (just south of 435 on the west side of Metcalf)

What: discuss a TAR spring ride




I'm thinking that by the middle of January it would be good Winter therapy to talk about a Spring TAR ride. I would be open to about anything but how about a ride based out of somewhere in Arkansas like Mulberry Mountain or Byrds Adventure Center.

They both have camping and cabins, and they are both right in the middle of all the good riding. We could go a different direction each day and end back up at Mulberry or Byrd's each evening. A few dates as possibilites; April 12,13,14; April 19,20,21; April 26,27,28.

Lets discuss it on January 15.

As usual, everybody is invited.

Good Morning,

I was lurking around the posts and noticed the discussion of a spring riding weekend. One of the weekends suggested is April 19,20 & 21.
I thought I'd share with everyone that CMA is hosting an Adventure Rally that weekend at Mack's Pines Campground. It is about 20 miles north of Russellville, AR along highway 7. It is across the road from Mocassin Gap OHV area for those that want to do quads and straight off-road bikes. Many of us will be there on the traditional dual sport bikes; KTM, KLR, DR, BMW, etc. I'll be there on my 950 Adventure. As you have already said, that whole area of Arkansas is loaded with great dual sport riding opportunities.

If you do Facebook there is a CMA Fast Lane page that has more information about the event on it. If you want me to send you a flyer for the event please send me a PM on this board and I'll send you a copy of the flyer with more info.
This event is open to anyone that wants to attend.

Kingrider, I welcome and encourage you to post full details including a link to the flyer (or upload it in the post) in our "Ride" forum. Please include the dates in your post title.

To the TARKC folks, Mack's Pines would make an excellent base as far as access to excellent, rugged dualsport roads. I'm not familiar with the true off-road riding in that immediate area, but I know there are a lot of trails.

In my opinion, from a dualsport perspective, the Mack's Pines area may be better than the White Rock area. It offers a lot of very rugged roads suitable for adventure bikes and smaller. The White Rock area has less of that in-between stuff. White Rock has the gnarliest trails you could want for dirt bikes and it has relatively easy forest roads. It doesn't have that many roads that are truly gnarly yet Adventure bike friendly. The Mack's Pines area does. It all depends, I guess, on what each personally thinks is "dualsport" vs "off-road".

Note that it's about 27 rugged road miles from Mack Pines to Brock Creek. You could combine 60 miles of good dualsport with a gnarly loop at Brock Creek.

From a lodging perspective, Mulberry Mountain Lodge (White Rock area) blows everything else away. Mack's Pines would be camping and RVs. They have a few crappy "cabins", too.
