Saddle Bag securing help

Post by DonG »

I just bought a set of saddle bags off of craigs list and some happy trail bag mounts for the DR. I have never mounted saddle bags before. So that being said, any tips on how to secure soft bags on a bike? I have a bunch of misc straps the bags came with, with clips on one end, that don't fit anything on the bags.
Here are the bags and my mounts.

I also got a STEAL on a tank bag.$50 craigslist 2 piece.

Thanks
Don

Sorry I can't help, but you might ask Troy. I heard he mounted Saddle Bags after Dyna Beads.

Nice one, Savage! 8)

Don, only thing I can tell you is strap it down as tight as you can in any way you can. Ensure the bag and straps won't touch the exhaust. Make sure straps can't get loose and get into the wheel or chain.

My brother in law has a similar setup. He tightened the straps down and thought there was enough airspace between the exhaust. He was wrong, when he loaded the bags they pressed upon the exhaust and they started to melt. He stuck some fireproof insulation on the back of the bag and the exhaust and that worked.

Here is a product (number 15) that comes with the Giant Loop Bags that might work. http://www.giantloopmoto.com/collection ... collection
