Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

BMW Motorcycle Rider Training

Post by ozarksrider »

Tomorrow I'm gonna sign up for the "Adventure Bike Enduro Skills" class. It's good for a year, so I wanted to see if there was anyone else interested. Maybe we can get a group of us together to meet up in South Carolina.

Eddie is going for the second time, so there are at least two of us......

Doesn't look like something that would interest this well-schooled hare scrambler. Why go to SC? I could give a class at Perry in two weeks. You could be riding your 100/1200 GSs all over the place and up and down the rock faces after a few lessons. I rode my 950 KTM Adventure all over out there. (I did discover that you do not charge through brush and hanging vines like a madman forgetting you had a clear acrylic screen. Duh.)

The class is 20% off if you purchase by August 1. That is a $200 savings. I have gone before and it was worth it. I'm looking forward to going back next spring.

Hey Stu I'll take you up on your offer, but would bring the Husky! :D

Reasons I think to go to SC...

1. It will be fun.

2. A new place to ride.

3. A new set of instructors.

4. If you toss the bike, it's theirs and they don't get mad.

5. Lots of places to ride in that part of the country. Side trips before and after?

6. Folks like this, http://www.globeriders.com/, are looking for some background before they let you sign up. In that community everyone knows what the BMW training is about. I'd like to add it, and some more experience, to my "adventure" resume.

Chris,

I'll see what I can get arranged. I "should" have a bike by then. We could meet at Bender's place and you could try some really neat trails. I can get you in. Nothing fast. I will be breaking in a bike. Perhaps we can get Troy to finally come out there as well!

Troy, are you open that weekend?

Sunday the 11th? I will know on Tuesday if my KTM will be in. I'll have to do the usual prep (guards, check valves, check grease applications, etc., the sort of stuff an over-the-top obsessive-compulsive does) and try it out. I will know more on Wed.

SATURDAY, August 11, I plan to just be returning from a week of Colorado trail riding. I will have been away from my beautiful wife and daughter for 10 days...so I won't be on the motorcycles that weekend. 8) Don't wait for me!

All, Stu is like really old, so don't wait too long to glean his wisdom. Who knows how many days that crusty dude has left.

Hey Stu, any weekend day in August is fine with me. Just pick one that works for you.

Well...no sign of the bike yet as of today (9th). The proposed ride is now for Saturday the 18th. You are welcome to bring your GS if enough of us come along to help pick it up. You will drop it. Even if you ride like Taddy.

I've made a new mark on my calendar. Post a pic of your new bike when you get it.
