The 2 wheel dudes I work with are meeting at our office this Sat morning at 10 AM to ride down to Williamsburg, KS for the world-famous ribs at Guy & Mae's.

I've never been, but the hype is huge. This is just a simple minor-road pavement ride down and back.
The start point is the BATS parking lot in Lenexa.
If we have a large group, there may not be table space at Guy & Mae's tiny place, but if you want to join us, show up at BATS.

I used to deliver beer there back when I worked for the Budweiser distributor out of Osage City. It is a cool little place with an old-school atmosphere and the food is pretty good. Last time I had ribs there, they seemed a bit smaller than I remembered, but that may have just been an off night.
Barbeque seems to be like religion or politics for some people- some of those reviews might have been a bit over the top, but to each his own. I guess that is part of the fun though- to get out there and see for yourself.

Re: Sat Jun 16: Guy & Mae's Tavern BBQ
So, Troy tells me he needs MY photos to prove his boisterous claims of being in a parade. I wonder how much I shall charge for such 'pictures?'
Ominous clouds as I left Owasso, luckily it cleared up as I drove North, with only a mile or two of sprinkles before the sun finally poked it's way through the clouds. In the end, it turned out to be a very nice day to ride.
I had arrived, as it turns out, just a few minutes prior to 'The Convoy', so, I decided to bide my time taking some shots of the local Jayhawker Parade (there are more shots of the parade in the link pasted below.)
After a few minutes, and countless pictures of tractors (see link to full album below) I saw a small group of motorcycles rounding the corner and inching their way into the parade route. There were more bikes than I had expected, so, surely these are just local folks enjoying the parade, right? Right?
Nope! I recognize that bike in the front! No one but Troy would buy an arctic white motorcycle and then proceed to make it his life mission to ride on as little dry, clean, well maintained pavement as possible. But, what's he, what are they, doing in the parade?
Looks like they're having a good time! Welcome to Williamsburg, KS, boys and girls!
I recognize a few other bikes from our BATS ride through AR back in 2010.
And last but not least, the bad boy Harley bringing up the rear! Frightening the old ladies and bringing hell into town!
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Here's where most people would include a shot of the BBQ, but, I didn't take any shots of the fare - maybe next time.
I ended up splitting a rack of ribs with Troy so I could try their other smoked meats as well, but, yeah, next time, all ribs. All. Ribs.

With lunch over, it was time to head to Wichita. You know what goes good with awesome BBQ? Gravel. Miles and miles of gravel. And corn, but, it's everywhere this time of year.
Something else that goes well with Gravel, Corn and BBQ? Cool jets! (I think it's an F4, but, identifying modern era jets is not my strong suit.) I believe this was stationed at the Emporia Municipal Airport, but, not 100% sure.
You can view the rest of the pictures, which are embiggened, on my SkyDrive. That particular album should be public, if you run into any problems, please let me know and I will fix it. Warning, there are a lot of pictures of tractors, because, well, my dad likes them and I was too lazy to make another album. And they aren't sorted, and there are some doubles, so, you have been warned. So there.
A great day with some darn good BBQ and darn good people. Of course I mean the darn good people of Williamsburg, KS, not the sorry lot pictured above

No surprise to me about Troy. He always has been an attention whore.
