Has anyone else been following the Dakar Rally Thread on ADV. I read in a mag yesterday that KTM Pulled out of the Dakar Rally. (News to me) Saying that the 450cc size limit came too late from the ASO. They had already started on the 690 prep for the Rally and now cant use them. No time to Prep 450s so they pulled out. At least that is what I got from it. Anyway I ended up checking the Racing forum on ADV and sure enough they have quite a read going on over there about the whole thing. Seems there is some compromise for Private racers that they can use 690s with a restrictor but everyone will be on 450s for 2011. Factory racers on 450s only for 2010. Lots of stuff to pick through on the tread but man what a spot that puts a lot of people in preping for the Rally.

Re: KTM Pulls out of Dakar Rally
I read about that as well. KTM, a long time supporter of the rally spent alot of money to develop that bike (in a bad economy as well), to race and now can't do it in the manner they wanted. I think Honda ran their 450 last year if I remember correct. I'll bet there's some politics involved. I suppose it's part marketing too. You know, everybody wants to see some form of the bike they can buy off the showroom floor on the race track. Or some happy shit like that.
