I bought a new Macbook for school and I'm wanting to put Mapsource and 08 Topo maps on it. Does anyone experience with it? I'm having trouble getting it loaded up.

So far as I know, Garmin does not make a MapSource version for any OS other than Windows.

If that is still the case, you may want to look into emulator / dual boot software so that your Mac can run Windows. (I know, not a great solution. And not cheap.)

I have used other GPS software tools to create routes, view tracks, etc. but don't know of any of them that allow you to upload to a Garmin unit. Of course I haven't tried to do that.

Post back here if you find a solution, as others certainly face the same difficulty.

I don't have MACs but I do have a ZUMO and thought I had seen posts about mapsource on a MAC. Something about Bobcat? Anyway there is a specific forum called "Zumo and the Macintosh" http://www.zumoforums.com/index.php?board=35.0

Good Luck!

I have the same issue... however I also have an older Mac. The new machines will allow you to install Windows XP and thus you can boot up in XP or the Mac OS. There is also a program called boot camp that will allow you to run windows www.apple.com/macosx/features/bootcamp.html

I haven't had enough free time to look into this more and will be interested to see what you find out.
