Broke a mirror on last weekend's jaunt (still have the imprint in my leg). I have been using the Roadmaster folding dualsport mirrors. Grudgingly I searched on-line for a replacement, I really hate replacing mirrors, they should sell them in a six-pack. With shipping the cost was gonna be $25, too much of a cheap @ss for that. Did some more searching and found a thread where someone suggests going to a hobby store and buy 4" decorative mirrors. After filling my cart at Hobby Lobby with potpourri, birdhouses, and knitting supplies (and feeling lighter in the loafers), I found my mirror 50% off two for $1.24. Daddy's got a new mirror!
Had to go home scratch myself, drink some beer, and belch the alphabet to get over the trauma of Hobby Lobby.
Seriously, snapped the old fragments out, globbed in the RTV, and snapped the replacement glass in place.

Sounds like a good fix. Feels good to fix something yourself at a fraction of the cost... I just picked up a small backpack at wal-mart called a "day pack" and it works great as a rear fender pack. I may get another because I think I can make some good saddle bag type bags to hang on each side of the number plates. The pack was only $10. I'll have to post pics of it later.

Way to go, Larry. Fight the man! Speaking of cheap alternatives, these were discussed a long time ago in a distant thread I could not find, but Sams Club online sells these cheap ATV saddlebags that could be modified to provide cheap storage on a motorbike. Less than $35.

Thanks for the tip on hobby lobby mirrors, I was using automotive blind sport mirrors rtv-ed into my ken seans but would prefer they be flat and not convex. If you want some cheap saddlebags tractor supply online has some horse ones for $27. I like my atv tank panniers and sometimes run them as mini saddlebags.

Speaking of cheap finds... I was just at Harbor Freight Tools and saw a boot drier for $10. I'm kicking myself for not picking it up when I was there, I got sidetracked and forgot to go back and put it in my cart. After the last trip to Arkansas I'm thinking a boot drier would have been worth gold on that trip...
