I'm not sure I know what the differences in them are? Can someone enlighten me?
Just trying to get some general info about them to see if I'd like to try and enter one for the heck of it.
Anyone have a schedule of any coming up around the Manhattan area?
thanks!

I always thought the Hare Scrambles were closed corse races like MX but through the trees and the country side etc and you did so many laps. Enduros were a race from point A to point B like Barstow to Vegas etc. What would one call the Last Man Standing? Closed course but a race from point A to Point B? Is it a scramble?? or an Enduro.

Harescrambles in our area are two hour long timed races in wooded/open areas with all types of terrain. Ive included a link to the series website that we race in occassionaly. there are numerous classes for all skill levels. each rider rides with a transponder that as he/she passes thru the timing section, their times are logged. most/fastest laps win. lap lengths vary from venue, but count on at least 6-7 mile laps. ive been on 10+ mile courses.

enduros are typically timed events also, but like said above, the racers "race" between two points or stages. there is a predetermined time allowance for each stage and the riders are awarded/penalized points according to how close to the time they come in. most are in very large areas and roll-charts or the like are needed just to find your way. part of the challange.
the closet harescramble to manhattan will be the team race at thunder hill, north of topeka, on 8-24. the organizer is a friend and with some committment from us he could be pursuaded into adding a dualsport class. lights, horns, tags, etc. it is usually a 3 hour event, but riders "team" up and take turns racing the course(which includes some of the moto track!). I will be riding the event, may see you there.

Foo-Foo MX and Foo-Foo Hare scrambles. I told myself I'd never do that again. I think I have a pic sowewhere of me launching the KLX400SR off the big tabletop, (sorry Larry, it didn't land too hard), trying to reel in "Big-Red" but couldn't quite catch him. Awwww what memories.......
If you're looking for a HS close to Manhattan don't forget about Milford. Handles water pretty well, alot of the single track is pretty wide, blah, blah.

I might be able to arrange that. Wait a minute, you talkin' about Dual Sports or what? I think you should arrange the "First annual, RideForum" team hare scrambles"
PK needs the "Rain Gods" to give him a break this year.
