Husky TE610?
Does anyone have experience with the Husky TE610? I located a 2003 for sale. Before I even made a call, I was wondering if the 610 had issues that made it a bike to avoid. One discrepancy I noticed was the spec weight. One site states 308 lbs. another site states 260 lbs. Both were for the DS version. Any insight would be helpful.

Re: Husky TE610?
Larry, I rode Steve Starkels 610 a few years back. I remember it feeling a bit less powerful than my 620 but it had all the power a person needs. I think it was a six speed and it literally loafed in 6th gear and didn't vibrate like my bike, (felt a bit more polished). I think it also had a factory tach on it. You might check the aftermarket and see if you can get a big tank for it. Go over to ADVrider and read the thread "Big Dogs life with a TE610". Good info and entertaining as well. Shoot Steve a PM over on BTK, I'm sure he'd give you a ride report.

Re: Husky TE610?
So I called Brian and found out that he raised the rear shock which is what threw off the handling in the sand. User error.
The seat height is shorter than that of an LC4, the motor a little less peppy than a 6xx LC4.
The 610 is Husky's equivalent to KTM's LC4. Figure 300+ lbs.
The Husky 510 and 450 are equivalent to KTM's RFS. Figure way less than 300 lbs (250?).

Re: Husky TE610?
I'll be upgrading(?) from a 1996 DR650. Looks like the TE610 would have a better suspension setup? I just finished taking a look at BigDogs posts. Impressed me the TE kept pace with the XR650 on their western TAT trip.

I emailed you Brian's number. Give him a call RE his former Husky.

Re: Husky TE610?
I believe the pre 2005 Huskys have/had issues with the valves. Troy and I continue to be amazed at the level of customer service we receive from Halls cycles in Springfield,IL. I would call and talk with someone there about a 2003 TE 610. Also check out Thumber Talk forum a wealth of information can be found there.

Re: Husky TE610?
Just a little too late. I was headed down tomorrow to look at the bike, checked on it and it sold this morning. Might have to refocus my sights on a DRZ400.
