Western Kansas Over Labor Day Weekend

To bad most of you guys live so far away. You are missing out on some good back roads. I posted this on BackRoadsTouring.org also.
I was able to leave Friday afternoon for St. Francis, KS to ride the Arickaree Breaks. Over the weekend I ended up riding almost 900 miles. After riding the Breaks Saturday I left to go to Mt. Sunflower and back towards home through the middle of the state so I could go by Monument Rocks and Castle Rock. I had never been to them before. The entire day was spent riding on unpaved roads. I had made 170 miles before the day was over and ended up in Quinter, KS. On Monday I stopped to visit my brother in Plainville, KS. He spent 40 years working in the Oil Patch between Hays and Russel. We looked over a map of the area and he pointed out some good roads to take. Some of the roads would compare to anything else in the state but it is more arid there. I turned a 110 mile trip by paved road into a 262 mile trip. Look over my pictures on google. They are in albums by day.
