I was wondering where I might find those channels for carring a MC. I've got a small wheel trailer and I would like to add a couple of channels to carry a couple of bikes. I saw some on a trailer one day that had a bend in the front edge to rest the front wheel in, I thought that looked neat rather than the sharp angled cut and weld versions.
Also I'm considering possibly carring my bike on the class III trailer hitch of my car. Any suggestions there?

Re: MC Carrier
Where are you located? We have a place here in WIchita called The Yard. One can pick up just about any kind of metal pipe, iron, channel etc that one could ever use. It also has just about anything else you could want or use. They get a lot of extra stuff from the air craft industry here. Alumunum, iron, galv, etc. They are on Central near down town, right across from the HighLand Dairy plant.

Daryl Perry uses a hitch mount carrier for his Husky 510 TE. He has hauled his bike to AR a couple of times with no problem.GLBarton wrote:I was wondering where I might find those channels for carring a MC. As to the "bend" vs. "cut" ... The cut and weld would probably be stronger, especially if bar stock attached the top of the bended piece back to the main channel. Lighter would be aluminum, but that requires a TIG setup to weld.
Have you considered combining a channel with one of those front wheel lock down devices used on dirt bikes?

Or I found this:

Your local welder (or you) could probably fab this right up.

if youre going to pull a trailer and dont use a tire vice(pictured above) youre an idiot! they are simply the best thing ever for hauling dirtbikes! I have 3 inside my enclosed trailer, and have logged thousands of miles with NO issues whatsoever! they cost about 60 bucks, but you'll never need another strap! i cant imagine the trailer setup that wouldnt allow bolting one of these great devices on!
btw-only my humble opinion, hey safiri-wanna race??!!!

Re: MC Carrier
I think you'll also want something to keep the rear of the bikes from sliding around.
Is the front of the trailer pretty sturdy? My Dad has an insert just made of 2x4s and a peice of plywood that we slide in. It just keeps the front tire from turning.
Well, actually, he just bought a nice 3 rail trailer, but that is what we have used when we needed a trailer.

Know of anybody local to KC (or Lawrence, Topeka) that sells these? Might as well keep my money local.xr-nut wrote: if youre going to pull a trailer and dont use a tire vice(pictured above) youre an idiot! they are simply the best thing ever for hauling dirtbikes!
