Cool video and it lets you know we could ALL be getting unbelievable gas mileage if "the man" wasn't making so dang much money off everyone.

Great video. And bike/idea.

I knew the military was retrofitting Diesel engines into the KLRs, but this is the first video I have seen of the bike.

In terms of "go anywhere" ability, a Diesel's characteristic of high torque, low rev, and moderate horsepower would be awesome. You aren't going to win races, but you would be able to chug up the steepest hills. The limit would be traction, which would be improved as the lower horsepower wouldn't break the tire loose as in a gasoline engine'd bike.

A friend just finished a year of commuting from Prairie Village to Atchison in his 2001 VW Jetta TDI. He consistently got 49 mpg. Even after he chipped it and bumped up the HP and torque by 50% each. Hmmm, and we are supposed to be impressed that a hybrid, with a bunch of environmentally unfriendly lead or cadmium or nickel batteries, gets mid 30s?!?!?!
