Mefo's

Post by hdmatt »

I have them on my KLR, so far so good. I had to order them from Arrowhead Motorsports out of Moab. The true test will be next week in Colorado. I will repost then

mefo's

Thanks hdmatt, let us know how they work / what you think of them..... How about the cost ? Expensive, resonable, what ? I haven't been able to find out much about them yet, other than those that do have them, seem to like them.

There is an 18 page report on ADV about them. Seems to have been talked about for almost a year. There hard to come by it seems.

MEFO tires

Post by BeemerBill »

Thanks Hayden, the link is informative, thats what I've been loking for. Do you happen to know anyone who uses the MEFO's ? The reason I'm interested in these tires is, that I ride an F650 which has a 19" front tire, and there are very few tire choices for dual-sports in the 19". The Tourance and Anakee's are good for blacktop and dirt roads, but lack when it comes to two-track or light single-track. Just looking for something that holds a little better. Thanks again...

I didn't know the Karoo was available in a 19", will look further into it. I have thought about the TKC80's, but I also do a lot of blacktop and have heard the TKC80's wear quickly. The MEFO's are "suppose" to have a longer life, or at least some claim that. Just trying to get a few options... Thanks.

I have never run TKC80s due to the cost. Hard to pony up that much money for a dirt tire.

I have the F650 GS-D so fitment isn't quite teh issue, but the 17 rear used to be a real PITA. Dunlop D606 are now available in a 17. :-)

Beemer Bill, I put about 1200 miles on the mefos this weekend. Across Kansas and around Colorado and I was pleased with them. I had Avon Slipsters on before that and these were definitely an improvement over them. They do great on the highway and didn't seem to wear to much. They are not as good as the 606 in the mud but did fine on fire roads and normal Colorado trails. If I had to guess I will probably get 5000 miles out of them easily. For an all around tire I would use them again.

Good Luck,
HDMatt

MEFO Tires

Post by BeemerBill »

Humm, Better than Gripsters all around, should get better mileage than 606's, has used other tires but would probably use the MEFO's again.... I think you are pushing me off the "fence". I think I am going to give the MEFO's a try. Thanks a lot HDMatt, I appreciate the report. Now if I can just find them... Sounds like you had a good time, wish I could have joined you. I really enjoy riding "fire-roads" way too much fun.... Thanks again.

Oh it is dude but it has its drawbacks too you know. Yea Im single and do all sorts of cool things but you have a wife, kids, a house etc. Thats pretty cool too you know. It's pretty lonely in my single world most of the time. No one to come home to and talk with etc. Most of my friends have kids and families that take over the spare time. So I pretty much do everything by myself. Sometimes the single life isnt all its cracked up to be. Plus I have to wait around for you all to get away from the wife and kids so we can have fun. Its just easier for me to walk out the door than you.
