Big Springs riding area is being sold 3/14. I tried to buy it. Too late. The new owners apparently are interested in hunting and not riding the best trails in our 4 state area. So now what? If riding area was available in southern Franklin County would anyone be interested in hauling that distance to ride off road? There is a 161 acre tract for sale there.

That is too bad that was a fun place and somebody has put a lot of time into it at some point...

That's too bad it was one of the closest races. Carbondale is good too and not that far from big springs...

The Forward Motion Race is on the schedule for April 24th. I imagine the landowner negotiated that in for maybe one more race, or perhaps one race a year. Easy to schedule a race around hunting season. I will ask on that forum.

Ed,
Only one race, the upcoming one, is guaranteed. Nothing beyond that.

It's my understanding they want to tie in the mx course AND the TT track for this race. It will be epic. Don't miss it.

Re: Big Springs Gone Forever?
Stu,
thanks for the update. I have to wonder if the landowner finally gave up after a number of legal issues through the years. If I remember correctly a resident near that property was able to convince the county commission to adopt some restrictions on riding there even though the county is unzoned. At the last two races I noticed the private event signs stating that the event was only open to certain (may have said Forward Motion) members.
I hate to miss the last race there, but I'm supposed to be leaving for Chicago that day. The way things are going I won't be able to make a race until May or June.
