Looking for a place to ride

I'm thinking about heading over towards Topeka to do some riding. I'm thinking either Oakland, Perry or Carbondale. Can some of you guys shed some light on the places and what to expect? Maybe that will help me decide. Thank you!

Oakland - It's been a while since I've been to Oakland, but it used to have some nice single track. Small, small and small though.
Perry - Nice place to ride as long as you are not looking for anything challenging. It has some fun hills and decent woods section, but no single track. I've ridden there a bazillion times (that means a lot
) mainly because it was relatively close to my house.
Oakland - This place is fun, though nothing too challenging. It's a harescramble course with about a 7 mile loop (varies a little as he does change it up). It has some hills, single track and open section with small jumps. It's never crowded and one direction so you can safely go 'fast'. Good place to make laps trying to improve speed and confidence. I think it's $10 for the day.

Thanks Hanes, just the info I was looking for! I know you meant to type Carbondale, not Oakland twice.
That sounds like a fun/different place to check out!

I've never been to Carbondale before but was planning on doing the fmhsc race there this year, is it open to ride for anyone?
Also nice video of the new bike, i have a 250 xc-f and love it. I had an xr400 before that so it took a few rides to get use to the bottom end like you said, but it made everything about riding so much easier and smooth. went to Chadwick not long after i got it and sure glad I did, i took the 400 for fun, and there was nothing fun about riding it at Chadwick.

Me and the fam are going to Carbondale! Going to meet up with DanielKeimTS as well. Seems there should be plenty to keep us occupied. If the hare scramble course is too much for the kids they can go do laps on the vintage MX track.

So what did you think of Carbondale?

It was great! We did a couple laps around the vintage MX track, then hit the hare scramble course. That kept us busy for quite awhile. I really liked the course.

I thought it was great. The singletrack was a lot of fun and in really good shape. I checked out all the piles left from the old mine after you left and I could spend a lot of time playing around on those.
Also those kids sure can ride it was a good time following them around the whole course seeing them have so much fun
