Hi, I'm Jim from Hutchinson, KS and I'm getting back into riding 16 years after selling my last bike. I have a brand new DR650 and I'm looking for some good dirt roads to break her in and practice my rusty skills.

Welcome, Jim!
I'm Troy, and I'm the web dude behind this forum. We have several members in the Wichita area and at least one from Hutchinson--you make at least 2 now. The forum is used for a lot of things, but the #1 purpose is to encourage and coordinate rides. That's what we all want to do!
That new DR650 looks great! I like the black color scheme.
You probably know about them, but another good group for you to be involved with is
http://www.backroadstouring.org. It is run by a Wichitan and has a lot of active members close to you.
If you have any questions regarding the forum's features, just ask.

I lived outside of Hutch for two years in the early 90s when i taught at Buhler. Lots of great roads to explore. Hayden (on this board) lives near Goddard but is from Hutch/Buhler so knows the area.
One of the best resources when route planning (as opposed to just going for a ride) are the KDOT highway / county maps.

Welcome....
I have to say, I REALLY like the black color scheme on the DR. Someday a real dual sport may be in my garage and hat one would do nicely.
Great looking bike.

Welcome Jim! Look forward to riding with you.
I also love the black color scheme on your DR. I had too much time on my hands this Winter so I made some changes to my 2000 DRZ400. It all started because I needed a larger fuel tank.

Welcome: What a neat bike you have. I have a dr650 also and love to dual sport. I have ridden Kansas backroads for 57 years and the flint hills are the most fun. be glad ot ride with you and share some of my best areas. My GPS is between my ears coupled with years of exploring the state. I have a couple of rider friends in Hutch and on occasion we ride for the fun. They ride street and I join sometime on the dr. I ride a gl1800 Wing also, but the dirt is where it's at. Hope to ride with you soon.
