Does anybody know about the riding area near Carbondale just South of Topeka. Pay to play? Membership? Public? What kind of terrain? Thanks, Rick

My Step sons rode there on their quads 10 years ago. Membership only. I have never been there but they tell me it's Rocks Rocks Rocks. They don't ride there any more.

If it is the same property that the Forward Motion Hare Scrambles Championship runs their Carbondale race on, then I believe you can ride there for $10 a day. The land is owned by a guy named Paul and he has a house right near where the riding area is. A couple of years ago, a buddy and I went there the day after a race (he actually raced it the day before), but unfortunately it had rained Sunday night and the place was nearly impassable from the mud. We followed the race loop and what took 20 minutes to cover on race day took over an hour of doggy-paddling and picking your bike up.
I've been there when it is dry and it is a decent place to ride, especially considering how close it is to town, so I'd recommend you check it out one of these days when it warms/dries up.

I don't know if we are talking about the Track off Highway 75, or the riding area. They are two different places. I don't know anything about the track, and the rules may have changed at the riding area since my step sons rode there. Back then the only way you could ride was as a member or with one.

Bob- I think you and I are most likely talking about two different places. The place I am talking about is privately owned land (by a guy named Paul- wish I could remember his last name). It is not a track though- it is all woods with trails built on it that they run hare scrambles on a couple of times a year.
Now that you mention it, I'm not sure if the place I am talking about even allows quads on it, so I would think we are talking about two different places.

I road the private place last year, it was $10 it was fun riding for 3 to 4 hours.
Yes the guys name was Paul and I had a good talk, it rained the day before I rode, it was a light rain and the mud stuck to you like glue!
He has a old school motocross track that is almost a flat track with curves, it was fun for a short time, let's you throttle up and feel big!!!

Paul Dipasquale (I think that's spelled correctly) The area is called Sante Fe Trail Cycle Park, or at least it used to be. Paul sold ATK's then Gas Gas. I haven't been there for a very long time, so I'm not sure what he's up to now. Fun place to ride. I used to ride an ATK around there alot.

This is the place I'm talking about. They have a private trail system. I know the boys would go out for "work days" from time to time.
I actually like the concept of a nice private club trail that everyone keeps up and you know who will be there on any given day.

I remember riding up the chat pile hill at the riding place, little scary at first then the throttle would twist harder and you was climbing at a supercross speed! Lol!

Rick,
It is a fun place when it is fairly dry. I've raced there a few times, once when it was muddy, once when it was raining and 40 degrees. You can get through it all with speed. It is a lot like Perry. Some of the trails are pretty rutted out. I think trail maintenance is pretty minimal. Some of the racers hate the place and some, like me, think it just adds variety to the series. It is nowhere near as rocky as Milford. Climbing the mining piles can be fun and different. The last I heard was $10/day. I do not know if memberships are still available. You could ask Paul at Santa Fe Cycle Park Gas Gas ATK, 14460 S Jordan Rd. Carbondale, KS 66414-9459, Phone: (785) 836-9171.
