Does anybody have any experience with Dyna beads? Good or bad?

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by "experience", but I dated Dyna Beads for a couple of weeks back in 1988. We didn't get to "know" each other, if you know what I mean, but I thought she was a nice gal. I found her to be a little high maintenance, and in the end, we weren't really compatible so it was a mutual breakup. Definitely not a bad lady, though. Why do you ask?

A friend of mine used them in a Versys for a while. He was getting a vibration that didn't seem to go away. He put them in at the same time as new tires. After a few hundred miles he changed tires and went back to normal weights.
The vibration went away, but he never knew if it was the tire or beads or the combo. These were street / sport 17" tires. I would think a D/S / knobby may be completely different.

Thank you Troy, you were most helpful. I'm asking for a co-worker who is considering them for his cruiser. If anyone besides Troy wants to weigh in, please do.

Rick.

How was I supposed to know that there is actually a wheel-balancing product with the same name as a girl I used to date? Furthermore, I was thrown off by the fact that Dyna was from Nebraska--I thought, well, maybe Rick knows her. Sorry to mess up your thread, man. Sheesh.

I had a bike that came with them to offset the rim lock. They were worthless in that application. I stuck on lead weights and it made a huge improvement.
I don't think your bud would even notice them on his cruiser.

I've used Dyna Beads once as well. Long before Troy met her... I recommend traditional rim balancing and penicillin...

Not useful? You got 3 real replies from people with some real experience with those wheel balancing beads. Here's my summary of their replies: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

How's it going up there in the frigid North, Rick? 8)

PS: Also, in light of recent revelations, stay away from Dyna Beads too.

Troy, I'm sorry if I sounded ungrateful. Thanks to everyone that helped...in any way. Speaking of frigid (Dyna obviously wasn't), I've been paying attention to Topeka weather since Kim is down there. I didn't realize there was that much difference between here and there. Always a few degrees warmer in your locale. Another reason to move South.
