Anyone have any opinions +/- on said item?

Now that I have fancy heated gear on its way, I thought it would be prudent to find a riding suit, specifically a one-piece (on the advice of our own TroyWolf) textile, to go along with the new bit of kit as I ride willy-nilly OverTheRiverAndThroughTheWoods this winter.

After some rooting around the more moderately priced suits, I came across this saucy number at MotorCycle SuperStore:

I am not so worried as to the lack of 'armor', I know that going in; but, would like thoughts on whatever you have to share with your own experiences with suits of this nature. They are bit of a new foray for me. Would this sort of suit go under or over a protective jacket? Would I really need to wear a protective jacket since it looks to be a bit 'thick' and may offer some basic protection based purely on material.

I'm not sold on the FirstGear, if someone has experience with something else, similarly priced - I'm game to take a look. Bonus points for another suit would be if it had pockets for 'armor', but, again, not a deal breaker.

Just in case you don't feel like going ClicketyClick on the link above, I'd like to stay under $200.00 (if at all possible.)

Thanks.

It's over your budget by $100, but is a smoking deal at this price. I bought this same suit a couple of years ago for $450, so $299 is a bargain. I wear mine on the streetbike, but it would work just fine for dual sporting as well. It has all the armor in it already and would be awesome with heated gear underneath. They come with a liner, but I've never even put mine in as I just layer underneath it and have ridden in temps down into the 30's.

As for the Firstgear, I can't comment on that particular suit, but everything that I've ever owned from that company has been pretty good stuff, so I don't doubt that the suit in your link would probably work out well.

Good luck with your decision!

Here's what I wear. I really like it! Put your MC coat on and your core has a double layer. Just my cheap opinion.

I have the Firstgear 2 piece suit with liners. The jacket is fabulous and I use it a lot. It is rain proof. The pants that have a bib just don't fit my style even though they work great. I use MX pants instead. I layer the Firstgear jacket and have had great luck with it.

For more off road stuff I use my Moose Enduro jacket and my MX pants. That and layering take me through snow squalls on Hurricane Ridge in CO just fine.
