New Rider :D

Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

New Rider :D

Post by Foster »

I finally got my wife on "her" kdx 200 last weekend! It went really well, after the part where she almost started the day by riding into a giant rock, lol. She missed it and needed a while to calm herself down but aside from that it was a great day. She went down most of the trails at Oakland. Nothing hard but more than I expected. I really thought that maybe we would be in the big, open, and flat area for the duration of Saturday's ride. It was a good day but it is a slow learning process.

If I have learned nothing else, it is that a new rider needs to be successful! If they start the day by having a decent wreck they may be done for more than just the day. Every one is different but it has been extremely helpful to just let my wife go at HER pace and not push her to do anything harder, or much harder, than she can manage.

The best part is that she wants to get out and ride again this weekend! I may steer clear of Oakland so that I can have some fun when she is done but I am very excited she has taken to riding as much as she had. I really thought she was simply going to tolerate riding so I would shut up about it.

Maintaining two bikes after each day of riding is less than ideal but totally worth the extra wrench time. She may never ride fast but I'll take what I can get! I think we may give School Creek a try if I can get the crack in her right engine cover sorted out before Saturday. Some asshole dropped it on some rocks at Disney and put a hair line crack in it, lol!

Congrats! I agree with everything you said about helping a beginner learn to ride........... especially your spouse.

After a half dozen or so local rides my wife and I made it to Colorado this fall at the peak of the aspen leaves turning. She had a Very good time and so did I!! :D

My wife happens to be my best riding buddy. She has grown into being quite the rider she will do between 5 to 600 miles in a day on her Hd . And it makes it easy to get the kitchen pass to get out on my bike pretty much anytime I want. We are now getting our 15 year old daughter into riding . I am pretty excited to get te ladies out for a scooter ride.
