Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

The trails were hot today...

After most of a day riding at Oakland we came across a fire. Like good, responsible, outdoors minded people, my brother and I got it under control and put it out. Unsure of it's origin but happy to be finished, we rode on. 300 yards around a bunch of turns and found a much larger fire. This photo is after some quad riders and ourselves got it under control. We spent three hours putting out fires. Not how I wanted to spend my day at the off road park but I suppose all adventures don't go according to plan. If they did, it would be kind of a lame adventure. We never figured out what started the fires. I'm betting some jackass flicked a cigarette into dry brush but I don't know. These were pretty large fires in strange places.

Backpacking style. Dirt, stirring, and minimal amounts of "available fluids".

When i came up to the first fire i used the little bit of water left in my camel bak and a lot of dirt thrown on top of everything that was hot. When we got to the second fire it was much larger and the wind was shifting around, so that did not help much. we got it tamed down with A LOT of dirt and then one of the quad guys had an ice chest that we filled with water from the river and dumped it on the fire. the second fire seemed to have been going for a while before we got there.

I tried to pull that show up on youtube. It didn't come up, or I didn't use the right search terms. I guess I will continue to be clueless. I have never heard of that show. I'm sure it was a touching show about two heroic brothers who saved a riding area from the grips of a terrible blaze by peeing on the fire as much as they could...
