I just renewed my AMA membership, and was reading the many discounts available to members. One was for a discount on a Flash2Pass garage door opener. I love this idea and would like to get one for my street bike. Cool, simple tech.

Yeah, I have looked into this in the past. seems the price has come down.

One downside: I have two garage doors, so my remote controls each with a separate button. Usually I open the same door, so the F2P would work fine. But on those occasions I want to open the other door ... dig out the remote.

BTW, here is what I have considered but not done: Remotes are cheap enough (~$25), solder some wire and a momentary (SPST, Normally Open) switch and mount on the dash. Mount two (one for each door) if desired. Velcro the remote up under the headlight mask, out of the weather. If you look inside the remote you have, it has a momentary SPST push putton switch that the finger button pushes. Here are push buttons at Radio Shack:

Or one toggle (momentary) to do both (SPDT momentary switch, although the Shack only carries a DPDT version).

$5.

So make your own for a $5 switch, some speaker wire, a bit of Velcro, a small dab of solder, and a $25 remote. And control two doors independently. But you have to remove your hand from the handlebars.

Dangit, Troy. Now you got me wanting to do this. And I don't even ride my Dakar to work anymore!

My remote is wired to the bike battery with a relay to the high-beam circuit. Flash the brights and the door opens.
