Need Help with Electrical

I purchased a new battery. The terminals are switched around from the battery that I replaced. My ground wire is about 3 inches short to connect. (I can't flip the battery because of the vent.)
Is there someone with electrical experience that could cut negative wire and add a few inches for me or have a better idea on how to fix it?

Thanks

Would an acceptable solution be to buy the "correct" battery? Every splice is a potential point of failure--a weak point. Of course it can be done, but what is the barrier to purchasing the OEM battery or compatible?

Can you make a small jumper wire with ring terminals on both ends? Made a call to a former bmw tech for some coaching.
1150's don't have CANBUS, so you can probably make a short jumper, recommended soldered ring terminals with bolts and 6ga wire, take care not to short across ABS, could get expensive
Negative ground I assume, so if the postive wire is too short your connection will have to be well insulated
Another option, if feasible, is to extract more wire out of the wire loom and peel out enough to get the length you need.

I tried tugging on it but that did not help. Bob might have the right idea.

I've offered up some WIRE help via PM and Eddie and I will get it done. If it wasn't the ground, I would strongly encourage the correct battery as well. (On my F650 I put in a AGM last time, as the battery sits above the engine, next to the oil reservoir, and gets hot ... the water tends to evaporate out of the cells and lead to a short life span.)
BTW, on the subject of batteries, years ago I called around on a few occasions to find the best deal and always ended up at this place. Now I just call them and save my time:
www.wholesalebatteries.net
605 Kansas Ave.
Kansas City, KS 66105
Toll Free Phone: 800-886-8658
Fax: 913-342-0138
(Locations is off of 7th ST between I-35 and I-70.)
The counter staff has also been patient and helpful when I was trying to find a battery by size and not number ... ie a cheaper power source for some kid's electric cars.

Can you get batteries with the terminals reversed?

I believe the terminal location (and type for that matter) are designated by the letter(s) at the end of the battery number ... Like YTX-14BS ... I think the B or S signifies where the + terminal is.
What is the number off of the battery you took out?
What about the replacement?
What is the OEM battery? (or is it the one you took out?)
Here is a good start to seeing the ~pattern~:

For info on the F650 battery and options:

(IIRC I fitted an AGM a few years ago. Before that I was getting two years from a battery. At least one cell would be "boiled" dry by the heat. Too much of a PITA to check/refill RE removal of the plastic body pieces. I can check my paper file or pop the plastic if you want to know what it is. Got it at Wholesale Batt in KCK. I think I had to loosen the battery bracket and slide it back. Not sure what year your wife's F650 is. Mine is a 2001.)

That is good information. Thank you. I will look into it when I get home.
