Where to repair alloy wheel?

Pull up a couch. It's cool in the Lounge. Just remember to be a good neighbor.

Where to repair alloy wheel?

Post by troy »

A month ago or so, I slammed through a pothole on Hwy 69. Today, I rode the Vstrom to work and noticed a major dent in my front rim.

Where can I take the wheel for repair?

Troy.

I have a place here in ICT that is great.

Rim straightning center.
1921 E Central.
316-269-1107

A couple of Jamacan dudes so if you call, be ready for hard to inderstand lingo. I have used them twice and they did a great job. Getting ready to take them my KTM wheel again. If all else fails, maybe Kyle or i can get it down there. I bet if you call Letko though they could hook you up with a place that is local.

Maybe hit up Mike. He had one of his BMW ( mag) wheels done if i remember right.

Hmmm, a day late ... I left for Hutchinson and Hayden's Thursday early afternoon. Doh.

Several years back (2003?) I had an alloy K100 rim straightened by a shop just east of downtown KC, MO. At the time I had a hard time finding anybody that would attempt the repair due to liability concerns. They did a good job and I would use them again if needed.

Found the receipt (for a bike I sold two years ago, BTW):
2/12/03
KC Royal Classics, INC
dba Venus Body Shot
631 Highland, KC MO 64106
816.474.7900

The amount is faded off and I don't recall the cost.

Thanks for 3 options, guys! I've not had the wheel repaired yet. I called Hayden's Wichita option and Safiri's KC option. I looked at the website for xr-nut's option.

xr-nut's option looks to be the best, but looks to cost well over $100 plus shipping. (Cheaper than a new wheel of course.) They also claim to be able to repair even twisted rims.

The KC option was not friendly on the phone, did not want to give me any idea of price other than "cheaper than a new rim". They also said, "we can't fix twists".

The Wichita option sounded way laid back, said they could fix it while I wait, and it would probably cost around $45.

I'll let you know what I end up doing. In the meantime, the bike is completely ridable.
