Get together Sunday (9/30)?

I feel bad that I haven't been hitting up local rides too much.

Anyone want to go see what we can find on Sunday?

Man, come down to the Ozarks with us! There will be a great KLR-style ride going on.

Jaysoy,

If you don't go to Arkansas for the ride down there, let me know. Mom said I could ride on Sunday.

Cool!

Man, I totally would, but I am already planning a "fall colors tour" later on next month. Maybe to the same area.

Are you guys riding down or trailering?

Most are trailering, but if you got the right bike and the time, riding down would be wonderful. It's a 5 hour drive on the major hwy.

Are you doing the official "Fall Color Tour" hosted by R.L Lemke or your own ride?

I'll be our own ride. My Dad, brother, and I and some other friends of ours that usually go to Colorado with us.

I kinda figured the real Fall Colors Tour would be too big.

I don't know ya real well, J, but from what you've told me, I gather you like to make your own way. Not really "do whatever the crowd is doing" kind of guys. Hell yeah. Do your own thing, go your own pace.

I did the FCT one year, and it was great. It was my first introduction to riding the Ozark trails. The comfort of the mass organization and group riding was necessary to me then. Now, I'd prefer much smaller group experiences with like-minded riders.

I'm just glad you are planning to get down there. Everybody within reasonable driving/riding distance should ride the Ozarks at least once a year if possible--and just when the trees turn is the best time.

I hope you guys get a good local ride in this Sunday. Let us know if you find anything cool. :)

Same question here. I'm located WAY south in Anderson County.

Planning, Planning, Planning.... :?

I thought about riding my route up to Lane and connecting to Troy's route in southern Franklin Co. But I am willing to adjust my start point, say Paola... I would like to ride the southern part of Troy's route. There is a lot of "mapped" dirt that needs to be checked out.

I can adjust my start time and location, as long as I'm not riding in the dark.

Take a look at the thread and toss in your two cents.

I believe that the FCT this year is being coined a "Non-Organized Ride." Most people are going to do their own thing it sounds like.

Shhhh...a secret....R.L. has been "not organizing the FCT" for 3 years now. It's really the same thing it has always been except now it "is not an organized ride". This is due to the Natl Forest restrictions on organized rides with more than 75 (or so?) riders. If your group is larger than that, and the FCT is, you are required to get event permits. Paying for permits is not even the problem. Nobody is trying to cheat the forest service--we LOVE the forest service. However, it has become a huge pain in the arse to get the permits. You risk applying for the permit and being denied. Then what do you do? If you just show up and do the event anyway, you are guilty of knowingly breaking the law.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission? 8)

well, looks like the thread got jacked or JaySoy decided to go to AR with the KTMs. Nobody chimed back after my last post, so my wife road two up with me geocaching today. Tomorrow is dedicated to what she wants to do. Looks like I'm going to an auction.

Pay attention to the weather, 30% chance of rain down this way.

I'm open to trying again, but probably closer to the end of October for an all day ride.
