Fall Bird Farm Trail ride Oct. 23 ,2021

It has been dry for a while now ,so it is time to try again to have a trail ride at the Bird Farm.
Date: October 23 2021
For those not familiar this is a single track in the woods and field edges trail located near Garnett Ks on a 200 acre working farm. There are also open field for those who want to ride with lots of space and no tree to dodge.
Trails have something to offer for everyone from beginner to seasoned rider. Excellent venue for kids and adults alike. No rocks and scary/dangerous hazards .... but you can get hurt if you try.
For those of you who are familiar with the trails, it is dry enough the creek bottoms are now offering lots of possibilities for off trail riding challenges (fun)
We will have ride waivers for riders to sign.
Can come as early as 9AM and stay as late as you like (dark). Bring a sack lunch ,snacks and water/drinks and enjoy a day on the farm riding with family and friends.
We are located 12 miles west of Garnett Ks. There are multiple places to purchase snacks and etc. as you come through town. The little store just outside of town (yoder store) now 7th street grocery is still there and a good place to stock up with fresh made sandwiches, drinks and etc. It is located just west of town about 2 miles on the road coming to the farm (7th st)
Parking will be the usual spot in the grassy shaded area across the drive east of the windmill.

If anybody is on the fence, go, you will be glad you went, this is such a fun day and such a nice place to ride at! Bird man keeps his trails in tip top shape!!!!

Like Snarfie, I also plan to come up from Wichita. It does depend somewhat on whether I get my forks back from the shop in time, but they tell me they can get them rebuilt before Saturday. On my last day in Colorado last week my left fork dumped it's oil.

If anyone is on the fence about this thing, I encourage you to go. Even if you don't bring a motorcycle you can enjoy hanging out on the farm, walking the trails, and great company. Bring your lawn chair and be ready to relax in the country.

Went out to check conditions on the trails this evening. It is autumn on the farm and in the woods , the best time of year, beautiful and peaceful

If the weather holds for us it promises to be a great day , and the trails are in great condition

Well..........just checked the rain gauge ,have had .6 inches of rain thus far with more indicated to come on radar. It is forecast to be nice by 10 o'clock but the trails will still likely be to muddy.
If your bike is street legal and you want to come anyway be here by 10 -1030 and we can do a road ride to lunch somewhere if you want.
That will allow us to check the trails in the afternoon to see if by some chance they are dry enough (quite doubtful)

We will try for next week end or the week after for the trail ride.

Wichita (at least my house) didn't seem to get any rain. KC area looks dry. BUT...looks like Birdman got a little soaked. Don't want to let those in the SW US hear me complain about getting rain, but....bummer! I'm game (I think) for either of the next 2 Saturdays to hit the trails.

Bird farm trail ride rescheduled for Saturday Nov. 6

Looks like here at the farm we are going to miss the rain this week. The trails will be dry enough to ride by Saturday and it is forecast to be a nice day.

Trail Report

This evening I did a pre ride trail check just to be sure everything is ready. They are dry enough to ride and with a bonus there will be no dust either. Grass along the trail is lush and green, and more leaves are falling. An added feature that we didn't have 2 weeks ago , the leaves are changing colors so it is getting real colorful in the woods. The forecast is getting better so looks like the weather will be good for Saturdays ride.

I might see if I can get help loading my lill beast. I have not been able to ride the last couple years.
I would love to bring it down and get on her again with room to roam. Problem is not riding so much as it is stopping.

Would love for someone to stretch out Lil Nells legs for me...she is one sweet mare.

No doubt will be folks I know and not seen for some time so that would be bonus also.

Maybe you got an atv I could pilot and not fall over when stopped...?

I got a good camera and would love to take some shots.....
