Tracy (Dakar59 on ADVRider, not the Tracy here) and I are planning on riding to Coronado Castle next Sunday after doing the KS Dakar on Saturday. It's located south of Salina about 20 miles or so.
Anyone have any good routes that direction. I figured someone must as it goes right through the heart of the Flint Hills. Also, anyone want to join in? It's going to be a nice, relaxed pace ride to decompress after Saturdays ride.

Garmin route and tracks from a ride that Greenhoot and Hemphill put together a while ago. It gets you close to Manhattan, either north or south of I-70.
- 20060708 ...
Then Luc's ride from Randolph (N of Manhattan) to the west.
- 20060906 ...

Post your planned and completed route(s) and track(s). Sounds great.

Leaving from Edgerton, MO or Edgerton, KS? (both are relatively close to Kansas City)
If Edgerton, KS, I assume you'd want to stay South of I-70...maybe cut through the hills around Council Grove. Mike, got some of the routes or tracks from the Stampede that could be strung across that region?
Coronado Castle is barely north of Lindsborg. (little Sweden) Lindsborg is a cool little town with some good eating downtown.

All of my routes and tracks should now be on the archive page linked above (bottom of page). Look for BTK Stampede files. The Lawrence West loop ... IIRC, the north (outbound) half was more interesting than the inbound half, except for Waubansee County.
I graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg. Awesome area. Wish I had been into DS riding back then. Lots of great gravel and sand roads to the west of Coronado Heights as well, although that puts you further from KC.
Check out the KS DOT county maps to link all of this together.
