Lets get some big bikes dirty this Saturday !!

Hello, I'm Scott and I ride a red F650GS. I also have an unhealthy need to get dirty, dusty, and muddy.
I am planning on riding out to Topeka and exploring the Riverside Motorcycle Park (aka Oakland) this Saturday, December 3rd. I'm not sure if there will be mud, but there will definitely be dirt, and probably some dropped bikes, and possibly some blood
Now I've got to believe that I'm not the only person on this forum that thinks like this, so if you ride a big bike and want to come play in the dirt like a kid with me let me know. I'm flexible on time but 11ish sounds like a good starting point.
Oh, and for the moto guys on the board, you should come out too. The more the merrier!

Sounds great, Scott! ....however, I have to be in Wichita this weekend for a family event.
You are one of several new folks to the forum in the last year, and many are relatively new to off-pavement riding. There might be some renewed interest in getting some good old-fashioned dualsport routes together. Of course before we know it the weather will be bitter.
You could save $15 (Oakland fee) and head down to Birdman's farm instead, but check with the Birdman first.

(I see you already posted in that topic!)

Oakland is free. I don't know the condition of it since they shut it down this summer.
Watch out for the local quadtards.

Correct, Oakland is an open riding area, there is no cost. Troy, I believe you meant Carbondale costs $15 to ride for the day. The riding area was shut down for work to be done on the levee. It's been re-opened for some time.
I've been riding at Oakland the last few nice weekends and it's shaping up nice now that many of the leaves have fallen. There were a couple of downed trees and someone chainsawed them and cleared those trails. There have also been a couple new trails cut. Most of the Quad riders stay in the open flat track area and some on the trail east of the main artery in. Some get out on the sand bar when the river is down. They don't go into the trail west of the main artery
as much. The last few weekends there have been pretty nice, dry, cool and not a lot of traffic in the woods.
Looks like Fri and Sat are good weather days but Sunday has a 50% of less than 1" of rain/snow. The place is bone dry right now.

Just don't let it happen again or we'll have to put you in time out.

See yah there Scott, looks like a few others I pinged will too. Probably buzz off for some gravel South-West (Dragoon Creek, Calson, Quaker, Bodark) after abit, then head home around 3.

I didn't get out to the park until 11:30 and I must have missed everyone by then cause I only saw a few guys riding on MX bikes. I stayed for a little over an hour and explored the trails. I found the whole trail system to be rideable by a biek ADV bike. My F650GS has a fairly low ground clearance and I only got hung up on one section (a big tree root that I just barely scraped). For the most part it is fairly hard-packed sandy soil, very fun. For those just wanting a big open space to practice there are several open flat areas. The trails were in really good shape and I plan on spending more time out there after winter.

my 450 may be out of commission for a bit. Anyone open for any big bike riding on Sunday?

I am one brave enough and with appropriate gear for road riding in cold and wet weather, but....I have an easy out for Sunday.
I'll be out of town for a family event. So easy for me to say, "Dude, I'd so be there, but I'll be out of town. Maybe next time!"
PS: What happened to your 450?

just pulled it apart to go through it and next thing you know, I picked up an Old Yamaha DS7 2-stroke and the KTM was forgotten.......
