Plan to ride
Carbondale this Sat, Oct 22, 2016.
It will be my first time riding at Carbondale. The place is relatively small as I understand, but for just over an hour of driving, looks like I can have some fun on the dirt bike.
Come ride with us!
I probably should mention for those that don't know, there is a $15 fee to ride at Carbondale--it is a private riding park. $20 for a family, which includes spouse and children.
@savage, you mentioned maybe riding Carbondale on Oct 29, but Paul says it is closed that weekend. That weekend does not work for me or my brother, KC. So riding this Saturday instead. Can you make it?

I just called Paul and he said it is OPEN on 10/29 for recreational use. He didn't specifically say, but I don't think he wants the racers checking out the course. I don't think the vintage MX track will be open though (which is OK because it is super boring unless you're a total newb).

Maybe Paul had his weekends mixed up when we spoke earlier today and was thinking the race is next weekend. In any case Kyle and I will be riding Carbondale this Saturday per the post title.

Our plans are not that specific. I assume we will arrive sometime before noon and play for a few hours. I don't plan on getting there any earlier than 10 a.m. it is also my assumption that the area is small enough that running into each other will not be difficult if folks show up. Hopefully we do not literally run into each other on the bikes!

True. We had a lot of fun last time there. You can actually get a good ride in both mentally and physically.

I am looking for more of a spiritual experience, but good to know.

Savage and Troy, I've never been to Carbondale. Trying to talk my brother in law to cruising out there with me. But if not see you there.

I wish I could go, but have others plans today, I would like to make it up there at sometime, but have a question, as I am new to this riding thing, is my 2006 V-strom 650 ok to take here, or is it to much for that type of bike. I would take my ural, but read that there are spots of one track width ?
Thanks Marc

Carbondale has a mix of single track and atv wide tracks, some off camber tight corners and elevation changes on the chat piles. I don't know about riding a Ural - doesn't yours have a sidecar attached? As for the V-Strom it depends on how good of an off-roader you are and how much experience you have riding that bike in the dirt. If anything take a ride out there and walk around the place a bit to see it first hand or talk to Paul when you get there and see what he says. There are also a number of youtube videos that may help in your decision.

Thanks for the help, Ed.
Yes my Ural has a sidecar, but I like it off road more than on.

Mine this morning after washing the evidence off.
It was my first time riding the Santa Fe Trail Cycle Park (Carbondale), and I think folks have been keeping the secret quiet. It's my new fave place to play close to home.

@PixtureThis,
I used to ride a V-Strom and I love that bike. Only take a V-Strom to Carbondale or any ORV Park if you hate your motorcycle and your body.
