Glade Top Trail - Friday/Saturday, December 4-5

Randy, James, and I are planning on getting an early start Friday morning and riding Glade Top for a couple of days. Going to be a bit chilly overnight (for camping), so we'll drive into Branson Friday night and find a cheap lodging. Early start on Saturday, and get as much riding in as possible before heading back to KC Saturday night.
I'll post additional details as we finalize the plan. Most likely, we'll be on the road Friday before 7am from Randy's house in Raintree.

I'd like to be IN, but have family obligations down in the wonderful Wichita metroplis....or the armpit of Satan as I like to call it.

That seems to be a pretty popular view of Wichita!
I'd have to agree with your assessment- I try to limit my exposure to that place to the bare minimum.
I might be in for a Friday ride, although I need to be home early enough to get back out and go to an event that night in Bentonville. What time are you guys going to be at Glade Top?

I need to get a ride in. What sort of ride is this Trail anyway? Assuming big bikes? And would it make sense to just head down Friday evening, have a few beers that night and ride on Saturday?

Kendall - Randy, Doug, and I are leaving early Friday from south Lee's Summit. Assuming we hit the road by 7, we wouldn't be at Glade Top until around 11. I'll post once we agree on a departure time, but with limited daylight, we'd like to get there as early as possible Saturday.

I haven't been to Glade Top, but we'll be on smaller bikes (500exc, Te511, FE570). From what Randy has told us, this area has good trails for both big bikes and dual sports.
We have bounced around the idea of staying in Springfield on Saturday night, and hitting Chadwick before leaving early Sunday afternoon to head back to KC. But, that part isn't confirmed yet.

I'm getting some things closed out at work today and tomorrow and some babysitter details worked out with my wife, but it is looking promising. I am planning on bringing the 500exc and maybe my crf450x if Chadwick is a possibility. I might try and figure out a way to camp instead of the hotel though to save some $ if it looks like it wouldn't create logistical issues. After missing the TARKC ride again this fall, I am determined to get out and ride before the weather turns to crap.

These great little cabins are almost right across from the Chadwick campground.

We've stayed there multiple times. Low cost, very clean, very convenient, and the owner is cool.

450, there are plenty of trails to ride big bike in GT area but you would inevitably get into some knarly trails and wish you had 450.
Does 450 have a plate?

I remember that life of getting things in order before being able to do anything...makes you appreciate it when you can get away.
Whether you camp or stay in motel we can figure out logistics. Let us know when you figure if you can go for sure and we should be able to share rides. That would pry save more money than camping.

I've stayed there a few times and had thought about the cabins but we would have to be organized enough to figure out meals. If I remember right, there isn't full kitchens but a microwave and outside grill?

Where are you guys planning on staying? Any tracks planned or just going wherever the trail happens to wander?

Is this group of guys on this thread the group that ended up in Chadwick on Saturday? A friend of mine (Rob Thrope - was riding a Yamahammer and his step son was on his KTM 500) said he met a group of local guys (local to me anyway), one of which rides a Berg 570 like my 2011 and he also indicated that one of the group he met who is on this forum lives near me in Leawood.
I'm trying to branch out and find like minded guys so I thought I'd step in here and ask.
Best,
Kirk.

It sure is! Couldn't tell you which one of us is near Leawood but I think there might be a couple. I am up north near Smithville.

None of the group at Chadwick was from the Kansas side. My guess would be Jim, from Greenwood, is who he was referring to.

The Berg guy would be me....Fe570. There is two of us on the forum with the Berg beast. Good to know there is somebody else in town with one.
Our local group, TARKC (trail and adventure riders of kansas city), get together once per month for dinner. Typically, the 2nd Tuesday of the month....that would be January 12.
Something will be posted soon about January 12th. It will be in the TAR thread.
