Traditionally it is what I'd call a relatively hard-core trail ride with a lot of singletrack. Basically they have guys lead riders on the harescramble track from the prior weekend and some other gems.

I know the one year I attended, they offered the "long" or "short" course. The short course wore me out. None of it was too technically difficult, but the long course guys are in shape! The guy leading our group was really cool and ran a nice easy pace to our liking.

There is talk of folks leading dualsport rides as well, but probably no guarantees. Of course there are dualsport tracks galore for the area you can download, load, and follow.

I would also note that all the folks seemed truly nice--a good group of folks. I plan to ride WUDI this year.

WUDI is close! I'm wondering about logistics and possible carpool opportunities? Who all is going to WUDI? A quick scan of the spodelist suggests that Randy & son, Kramer are going. Also Stimmer & buddy.

Kyle (my brother) & Luc are coming from Manhattan.

Kyle has room for me in his truck/trailer, but they will be rushing to get down there before midnight---if they stop to get me, it could add as much as an hour to their already 7 hour haul. They are willing to pick me up, though.

I plan to head down ASAP after work that Thur, which for me, means hitting the road by 3:30. 5 hour drive, so arrive there around 8:30 to 9:00. I can drive down myself...would enjoy it in my new-to-me 2011 F-150 SuperCrew. 8)

Hanes? Motomann? You guys will LOVE this ride. We can put you on an air mattress in the very nice cabin Joe rented.

Sweet! Too bad you weren't ready for a new F-150 when I sold my 2010- I would have given you the Rideforum discount!

Alissa and I will be there mid-day on Thursday, not that it helps anyone on here since we're coming up from Texas. Man am I ready to get out of here and up to AR!

See you guys there!

P.S.- if anyone is looking for a spare set of KTM wheels, I will be trying to sell mine at WUDI. They are silver and the rear is a 19", but it does have a Shinko trials tire on it that works pretty well, as well as a decent condition knobby too. Brake rotors included.

As I recall, your truck was extended cab--not SuperCrew, which is what I wanted. I actually did consider your truck since I had tossed around the idea of upgrading my truck for about 2 years. As it turns out, I waited 1 year too long--I spent a lot of money on repairs in the last 12 months on that old 153,000 mile 2002 F-150. All of it was normal stuff, but cost a lot of money. The folks who bought it got a sweet deal on a serviced truck, I think.

My "new" 2011 has that 3.5 V6 twin-turbo "ecoboost" engine. Holy cow I'm impressed. I also test drove the 5.0 V8, and this ecoboost performs better. No delay at all in the turbos. A relaxed 1800 RPM at 70 MPH, and when you need to pass, the power is there. I just hope long term reliability does not disappoint.

Looking forward to seeing you guys at WUDI!

Troy as of now my buddy and I plan on leaving Wed after work. Of course that could change depending on the weather. If it does I will post back.

I looked at the V6 Fords when I bought my new truck but ended up buying the 5.3l Chevy crew cab instead. It actually says it got one MPG better than the Ford and the "brand new factor" of a V6 turbo in a full size truck kind of turned me away as well. In 24k miles I have averaged right at 17 MPG with a lot of towing. So I am happy so far. One tank of highway miles I measured got me 22 MPG.

Yup- ours was the SuperCab, which was the extended cab with the backwards opening doors for the back seat. I think that combined with being 2wd in the Midwest was the reason I didn't have much interest when I tried to sell it. At least we lost a small fortune when we traded it in on the F350!

I forgot fuel economy could be measured in numbers that high! We're getting about 14 completely unloaded and about 8-9 with the "house" behind us!

I guess energy is far from free and it takes a lot to move 9000 lbs of truck, especially with almost 15,000 lbs of trailer behind it! It's still worth it though!

That MPG is great for a truck. Yeah, Ford's claim about MPG with the ecoboost is baloney. Nobody is saving money driving this truck! In fact, Consumer Reports tested the 5.0 V8 and the ecoboost side-by-side in 2011. They found that they got almost identical MPG with barely more performance from the ecoboost....until they pulled a 7500 lb enclosed trailer up a long hill. They said they had to push the 5.0 accelerator almost to the floor to maintain speed while the ecoboost V6 downshifted a couple gears and hummed up almost like a diesel.

I hear you on buying new tech in the first year! I bought a first year, but 3 years after it proved itself. :)

See you at WUDI! I'm staying at a cabin--not at the campground, so we'll be riding through the woods to get to the campground on Fri & Sat morning. I'm in for the Fri night dinner, so see you there, too.

I'm officially jealous!!! Man would I love to go on this ride, but unfortunately just not in the cards. Hopefully next year. You guys have a great time!! Still need to get bikes ready for TARKC ride.

I too had to finally break down and get a new (to me) truck. I bought a 2011 GMC Sierra crew cab with the max tow package which includes the 6.2L V8. Mileage is about the same as my old 5.3, but the fun factor is A LOT higher.

I think the Ecoboost is a hell of an idea...who would of thought something like a twin turbo'd truck would be mass produced. Troy....we must have a little grudge match someday! I think it'd be a close race!

I'll let you win just so you aren't humiliated both in your truck and on your dirt bike when compared to me. I'm currently looking for one of those back window stickers with the little guy peeing on the GMC logo. That's how I roll.

Gonna miss you on the ride Mike!

Excellent. With the "ecoboost" engine, every time I step on the accelerator, Ford plants a tree. So I can beat you while saving the planet. It's a win-win. ...and as the Flintstones sing, "We'll have a yabba-dabba doo time! We'll have a gay old time!"
