Guys, if you've never witnessed a trials event, you are missing out! The events are family friendly and admission is free. We can plan some nice dualsport rides around attending these events. Our brothers and sisters to the South (Wichita) do something similar with the Trials events going on down that way.

Anyone up for going? I would like to try and make to watch for awhile and if we get bored my buddy has a track within about 10 miles that has an 85 footer with a 60' tabletop and some smaller doubles (30'-40') if anyone wants some air under their tires

Well, my son and I drove up to Excelsior Springs to watch this event today and we are missing out!!! I can't believe the skill and the guts these guys have. They go up and over things that I couldn't believe or even attempt on the old Husky.

They ride a lot of Gas Gas bikes which are only 130 pounds but have 280 cc two stroke motors. With this power to weight ratio no wonder they can do the things they do.

I met a guy named Matt who is the north american importer for the Gas Gas trials bikes. Well we got to talking motorcycles and he is on the committee to try to reopen the Tiffany Springs park area to motorcycles!!!! He said that we should hear something in the near future concerning the reopening, apparently Platte County is strongly considering it. Lets keep our fingers crossed because this is a great area to ride Iâ€™m told and it is only 3 miles from my house!

The next MATT event is a two day contest up in Trenton, MO May 19-20 and I think I might head up there to watch. I donâ€™t know if my ribs will allow me to ride the Husky so I might just drive up again. These are a great bunch of guys and I think you will be impressed with their skill.

Are you sure it wasn't Dale Malasek sp? that's the importer? Could have changed I guess. The club is referred to as MATT or Matt. Also the 2007 TXT 300 is speced at 68 kilograms, is equal to 149.9143 pounds, still darn light though! And yes it is a great place to ride, the trials club leased that ground since around 1970ish and I was fortunate enough to spend many hours out there camping, clearing sections and loops and of course riding. It truly is an off road paradise!

I stand corrected it was Dale and 150 pounds. They sure could throw those bike around like they were nothing.

Daryl, I'm glad you got to get out! Watching those events involves a lot of walking around on uneven ground between the various stages. How did your ribs hold up?

You should have called! I'd have gone up with you. My bike is down for repairs, and with my ankle taking so long to heal, I just don't want to risk riding right now. I was mowing the lawn wishing I was riding.

Sounds like you caught the trials bug like I did after watching only one event. Amazing stuff.
