Nov 6th weather permitting

I can't wait

Crazy; maybe in the next couple weekends I'll post up and we can do a few laps at Oakland and then blast up to Lecompton on the river road. I know of a couple min maint' roads up that way and a couple more we can recon. I'd do it this weekend but I gotta work soem today then prep the 300 for Melvern tomorrow. Gonna be a beautiful weekend to ride, anything, anywhere. Can you see the cords on your rear tire yet? LMAO! Sorry I couldn't help it.......

Sounds good Sundays work good for me. I haven't seen any cords yet. Gettin very close tho. I plan on putting new tires on it maybe this weekend not sure with it being so nice I might just wanna ride we will see.

OK Crazy EXC525guy, this Sunday is out but, I'd be up for a few laps of Oakland and then take the river road up to Lecompton and back on November the 6th. Probably won't be more than 50 miles but I'll bet we can make it a fun 50. Let's watch the weather between now and then and see how it goes. Anyone else interested is welcome to come along. Oakland is an off-road riding area, (in Topeka) so DRZ/EXC type bikes are a good fit for this ride. Stay tuned......

November the 6th sounds great. I hope we can get some ppl to go with us. I just hope the weather will be good!! Anyone wanting to go post up!!!

I would love to tag along. I will need to wait until we get a bit closer to say for certain that I will be there but tentatively, I would like to attend. Sounds like fun.

Where are y'all planning on meeting up? What time?

We're supposed to get a good rain Wednesday and they now have more rain in the forecast for Saturday. A mid-week rain won't hurt Oakland but a Saturday rain might. If we get little or no rain Saturday, I will tentatively plan on being at the Oakland trails this Sunday at 12:00 noon sharp. Let's continue to watch the weather and I'll post something by 5PM Sat' afternoon to confirm.

Weather looks good for Sunday so far!! I haven't had a chance yet to change my tires. So I will be running my balding rear one more ride I suppose. My front has almost 10,000 miles on it. Actually its the same tire that made the trip to Canada and back lol. Rear has a little over 4000 on it now. I was also thinking we could make the Lawrence motorcycle meetup at java break at 4pm. They are having it Sunday because of the rain tomorrow. If interested let me know!!

I'm good with that plan. Noon sounds good to me. I have never been out to Oakland. Is it similar to the Perry off road park? More technical or less? I'm excited! This sounds like it is going to be fun! I might sneak out to the park a little early just to recon Oakland a bit.

OK, it looks like the weather Sunday will be low 60's with the rain holding off until Monday. I'll be at Oakland at 12:00 noon out front, orange KTM w/ big ugly stock turn sigs on it. We can do some laps then head for Lawrence on gravel. We can use the outhouse as the turn-around point. No not the old strip joint in Lawrence that at one time was affectionatly known as "The Outhouse", there is a real outhouse next to an old vacant airstream trailer that's on the route. I had to make use of it when I recon'd the route awhile back......

Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour Saturday night.

I am planning on being thereon my blue DRZ. I will most likely show up early. I am coming out from Leavenworth.

I will be there. Did you want to stop by the motorcycle meetup in lawrence at 4 pm? It's at 7th and new hampshire. Let me know!! I can't wait to ride with some other dualsports!!!!

Are you guys talking about oakland ks? By manhattan?

It's said in one of earlier posts that it is in topeka. It is a offroad riding area in the northeast corner of topeka. You coming?

The Oakland riding area main entrance is at the intersection of NE Chester & NE North ave. Basically 1400 NE Chester.

Easiest access is to head North on Chester from Sardou ave, about 8 blocks.

According to Google the GPS Cords are 39.079408,-95.640267

The aroma is from the "sludge pits" the city operates. When it's hot in the summer they look like you could ride across them......... you can't. Don't ask.

Well I will be there around 11am and Harvey did u want to go to the lawrence meetup since your leading the ride its your choice. If everyone would post up a last post on who is going so we know who to look and/or wait for that would be great. I cant wait to do some riding. See you guys tomorrow!!! Also what sort of riding are we going to run into on this ride from topeka to lawrence and back??

I rode the loop this PM and it is exactly 52.1 miles from Oakland to "The Outhouse", then another 21 back to Oakland, that does not include any mileage from horseplay at the river beforehand. I found some pretty cool stuff that I had forgot about. Crazy, I'll probably head back to Topeka at the outhouse but you or anyone else is welcome to head on up to Lawrence if you like. See you in the AM.
