A few days ago I was out riding having "to much fun" when I realized , if you are going to get a ride together you better start planning. Planning ahead may not be my strong point.
I have put together a new route for this year and I like it better than last years.
This weekend is open for me so I would like to share with whoever can make it a route I have really been enjoying. If you can't make it this saturday I plan to do another ride later or just contact me and we can arrange a time to go riding.
Lets start at the Garnett Ks. airport at 9:00 AM. Sat. Sept 17. The route consist of 2 loups 1 east of Garnett and 1 west of Garnett. The east one just crosses over into Linn county and is mostly south of Greeley. The west route crosses a few miles into coffey county and back. The sum of the 2 loops is approx. 120 miles.
There are lots of (dry) creek crossing, senic vistas and (dry this year) dirt roads. There is a little chance of rain by saturday but it will have to rain a lot to spoil the roads. Some rain will settle the dust but if not most all the roads are east west so with a north or south breeze the dust will not be an issue.
The plan is to ride one loop in the morning returning to Garnett for lunch and gas if needed then riding the other loop in the afternoon.
There is plenty of parking space at the airport if you want to haul your bike.
Please contact me if you can make it so I will have and idea what to expect for proper lunch arrangements and etc. The local Simple Simons makes a really good calizone.
