Re: October ride

That was a great ride!!!!! Thanks for all the hard work and time Troy! You had a great route! That was the roughest "dirt" I have ever seen and the most fun! Glad we all made it out mostly unscathed! It is hard to be back at work today after such a great weekend. It was great riding with everyone th...

Wife's First Bike/ my trail bike...

So, my wife is talking about getting her first bike. I am very excited. So, I have looked around online and I know what exists but not necessarily would be a good starter bike. She is NOT about going fast. She just wants it to move and not pitch her off...much... So, I am thinking a Honda 150 ...

Re: October ride

Troy: I packed my vibram toe shoes. They look ridiculous but pack small, are comfortable, and they let me feet dry out. You could always stop at walmart and buy some flip flops. They are very cheap. See, I am a novice and need the protection afforded by the full off road boot, I don't have the luxur...

Re: October ride

Thanks to the forecast my pack went from half full to full plus a dry bag. I am hoping that I can ratchet the dry bag on the back of my drz with ratcheting straps. I need luggage on my drz. I can't wait to head out tonight!! Looking forward to riding with you guys! I left my drz -1/+3 so I hope we d...

Re: Sept 23rd anyone want to ride with a newb in or around C

DonG: First of all, welcome to the world of dual sport motorcycle riding! I think that between the items you listed and Katbeanz suggestions you have a decent kit for everyday riding. If you need some good routes go to dualsportmaps.com There are some routes up there to give you some areas to explor...

Re: Google Maps on Android...

I had a similar issue until the update this morning. Mine would stay Q'd and never start downloading. I can now download about 85mb sections at a time. :D

Google Maps on Android...

Some people may have noticed but for those who haven't, Google maps released an update recently. No surprise there. However, under "My Places" in the "offline" section you can now download large map segments to your device for use when you know you will not have service. This could be old news to so...

Re: October ride

So, my boss, a rider (street) as well, had a question I couldn't answer pertaining to our upcoming adventure. If it rains, or is supposed to that weekend, are we still on for the ride or will we move the ride to the other weekend we were considering? I figure that some moderate trails become impassa...

Re: October ride

Is this ride starting in Fayetteville, Ozark MO or Ozark AR? I was not at the meeting so it is not clear to me. I maybe bow hunting but want to keep options open. BTW, I do have the nuts to take a 1200 (or I am nuts) because I am the GS GIANT! :-) LOL Heck yeah Eddie, come on down and show us how i...

Re: October ride

Any chance you work somewhere closer to the KC area? I'd like to take you up on the offer of mounting a new back tire for me, but Leavenworth is a bit of a drive (I live in eastern Jackson County, MO and work in North Kansas City). SH1129 I work in Leavenworth too, about 4.5 miles from my house, so...

Re: October ride

Lets plan on finalizing the date tomorrow. We don't all need to carry tool, tubes and tire irons so we can figure out what everybody has so we don't have duplicate efforts. +1!!!!! I say we splitting it up among us is a great idea. It can be a fair amount of weight to carry and it is stupid for eve...

Re: October ride

I think that I am in for sure. I won't know until I get a finalized date and check the calendar at work. I think I am free either weekend. If we do the first one though then my wife is out of town anyway and all I'll have to is coerce my brother to watch my dogs. My brother really wants to come but ...

Tuttle Creek ORV Area

This park has a lot of rock ledges if you like that sort of thing. Big ledges, little ledges, they are everywhere. It can get pretty crowded with jeeps at times. It was a decent park for my family and I. We had a klr 650, razor 570, and a drz 400. The razor and the drz were much better suited but th...

Re: Finger Lakes riding area...words of wisdom?

We stayed out of the water. Saw a guy with a buried atv suffering from a bad case of stupid. Other than that it was a good ride. Dusty, a bit rutted out, and a ton of fun. After this weekend I think my bad wants a breathing mask though  It was an interesting riding area. Different from what I e...

Finger Lakes riding area...words of wisdom?

So, my parents are headed north and we are all going out to Finger Lakes ORV park near Columbia MO. I have not been there before but it looks like a ton of fun. I already did a +2 rear sprocket change! I am very excited. My parents are bringing their razor and my brother will have his KLR. Hopefully...
