Re: 450/525 EXC KTM's
I'm fortunate enough to live close to some local trails and have some friends that have dual sports that like to do single track. When I ride with these guys I ride my DS. My RXC400 or 620 will do it but is not optimum. I have an '02 EXC300 that I race in C-Vet in the FMHS series, (#77 last year, #7...

Re: 450/525 EXC KTM's
Does the 525 feel like a big pig on single track compared to your 200? Does the '25 have alot of compression braking when you snap the throttle shut? A buddy of mine had a CRF450 that I spent some time on before he traded for a 300XCW. The power delivery and compression braking was very abrupt and w...

450/525 EXC KTM's
I think a couple of you guys have got 450/525 EXC KaTooM's that have been dual sported. I have a line on an '06 525 EXC that is street legal and since I don't ride my RXC400 much anymore I thought about trading it and some $ for the 525. I've ridden a few 450's but never a 525. I'd be interested in ...

Re: Riverside Motorcycle Park in Topeka, KS
Alot of FMHS guys do in fact ride there. It's kind of been an unwritten rule not to talk about that area much, especially online. The more publicity it gets, it seems the more undesireables show up to ride. It's not the racers or other responsible riders that are doing wheelies and burn outs in the ...

Re: Thinking about shopping for a KTM.
Pick up a copy of "Wheels For You" it's a free car/truck/m-cycle/boat/etc for-sale rag you can find all around Topeka. There is an '01 KTM Lc4 640 for sale in there near Salina. I think he wants $3850.00 for it and it had about 8000 miles on it. The big block KTM's are fun to ride, just be aware tha...

Re: Flint Hills Stampede
I signed up for this EPIC adventure. Plans are to leave Topeka about 6AM. If anyone is coming from the east along 75/56 highway and want to link up that's cool. Probably run about 60 mph.

NE Kansas ride........
I'd have tried to make that ride but didn't see it until too late. I haven't been on a gravel ride in a long time. The Eskridge/Alma area is a good choice as it has many curvy/winding roads with lots of elevation changes.
Try to catch you guys next time.

Fall Color Tour
Myself and a handful of other riders have done the Fall Color Tour for the last three years. The single track can get fairly challenging especially in the rocky sections but it's not a threat to a good rider on the right bike. Alot of it depends on how fast you want to ride it. There are some creek ...

One bike I haven't seen mentioned is the KTM SXC625. It has the proven Lc4 motor which is bulletproof and has the easy screw type valve adjusters. I don't own one but have ridden a couple and if your a big guy, they rock. It doesn't have oil in the frame like the RXC's but I would feel alot better a...

DS'ing a KaTooM RFS
Cycle Zone in Topeka has a kit put together w/ factory parts. There is a pic of it on the CZ website. A buddy of mine did his EXC450 and it was turn-key. It might not be cheap but you'll have no hassles and you'll be riding instead of wrasslin' with something that may not fit right. Call Kevin or Mi...

Unleash the beast......
Andy is very knowledgeble when it comes to KLR650's. I once saw him put the smackdown on an XT-225 and a DR250 in a drag race. Both in the same day! He had his feet on the highway pegs too.
It's all I can do to stay with him on my 620.

Milford 12.29.06?.........
Myself and another dirt bike addict are off work on 12.29 and are contemplating riding at Milford that day. Thought I'd post in case anybody had interest, probably try to be there between 11 am and 12 noon. Hopefully we don't get any rain between now and then. Think I'll ride the 300. -Harvey RXC620...

The drama......
Troy, I agree that it is unfortunate to split the DS community since it is relatively small, but your site could cater to and develop the NE Kansas/Missouri rider base. At one time I believe the NE Kansas DS riders were the most active group in Kansas. I agree alot with what Mike J. said. I got the ...

Ride this weekend
I told my wife I couldn't stand to miss the shopping trip, (I got some brownie points when I said that) but I really wanted to ride. She said to go ahead and go to Milford. I told her I really wanted to go shopping with her, (ROFLMAO!!) so I'd ride at Oakland in Topeka for a few hours early, (about ...

Ride at Perry
Stu, what time are you going to Perry Sunday? I might come up for a couple laps. I'd really like to go to Milford Saturday. I've been doing a lot of riding lately and the wifey kinda ~expects~ me to do some Christmas shopping Saturday. What is it about women, they just expect so much of their husban...
