Heavy flywheel on an EXC450
I just bought an '04 EXC450 with a plate. I bought it from the original owner and have known him for some time. I was surprised when he bought it new, he told me he put an aftermarket heavy FWW on it, said he had problems with it stalling too easy. This seemed to fix his problem. I've put heavy whee...

Re: Carbondale team race......
I stopped during the practice lap and talked to a guy on a TW, it must have been the person you mentioned. I though I saw a WR250 there with a tag on it. Maybe that was the other guy. It was a low rider turnout since the season ended a couple weeks ago, about 40 riders. Once the riders got spread ou...

Re: MY RIDING SEASON IS OVER!! :-(
That race was fun, even though I finished next to last in the TT-flat-track. The 4T's have a little advantage on that. Once I got my technique down, I did pass a CR450 on the last lap and sneered at him as I went by. I had my sights set on Clausen and then the checkered came out. Maybe you'll be in...

Re: BEST OF KANSAS RACE SUNDAY AT THUNDERHILL COME SEE THE SPECT
If you've ever wanted to try three types of racing in the same day, this is a cool event. Alot of guys just come out and ride just to experience it and have fun. Not to mention it is cool to watch the fast guys. The hare scramble course, (woods) is not that technical, and the MX and flat-track/TT co...

V-Strom question
Since the economy is in the tank I want to do my part to stimulate it a bit. As a result I have been looking at a few bikes one of which is a V-Strom as being a possible future aquisition. With the proper windshield, is this bike comfortable for a 500 mile day on the interstate? Is it reasonably com...

Hey Big Red, you gotta be careful with those German bikes. I guess you won't be makin' it to the season finale at C'dale then. Get well quick.....

Milford 8.23.08....................
My plan was to deliver Mikes new 450, take a couple quick laps since I was there, then head home. I hit reserve as soon as we went into the woods so I split off early and didn't get a chance to say adios. Hope you guys had a good ride. Post up when you find out what caused the DRZ to lose all it's o...

Re: RIDER DOWN PRAYERS SENT OUT
That's terrible to hear. I know he was excited when he got the XR. it just reinforces the fact that we participate in a sport that has a considerable amount of risk to it and we take our chances everytime we ride. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family. Let's all be abit more careful riding to w...

I might be able to arrange that. Wait a minute, you talkin' about Dual Sports or what? I think you should arrange the "First annual, RideForum" team hare scrambles"

Re: Scrambles/enduros?
the organizer is a friend and with some committment from us he could be pursuaded into adding a dualsport class. lights.....-XR-nut. Foo-Foo MX and Foo-Foo Hare scrambles. I told myself I'd never do that again. I think I have a pic sowewhere of me launching the KLX400SR off the big tabletop, (sorry ...

Re: '03 EXC450, how good is it?........
I took the afternoon off yesterday and went to Perry and rode solo for a couple hours on the 450. I looked at it as therapy. I needed it. It's geared 14-50 which for me seems to be an almost perfect balance for street/single track. Both the front and rear suspension felt pretty harsh especially on c...

Re: '03 EXC450, how good is it?........
XR- there's a few bikes I always wanted to own and a 450 with a plate is one of them. This bike only had 39 hours on it, looks new and I was able to get in it right so I bought it. It's stupid fun to ride, especially on the back roads. I also think a 950 Adventure is on my short list of bikes to own...

'03 EXC450, how good is it?........
I just bought an '03 EXC450. The bike is street legal, had low hours, and a good history. I bought it for the plate. The bike will probably be used 60% street, ( gravel roads, county blacktop, little if any in town stoplight stuff), 40% trail riding. I make a concious effort to shift smoothy on asph...

Re: Need help with jetting
Someone had previously mention the Thumpertalk website. Go to the DRZ400 link and you will find a wealth of info there. On KTMtalk there are some pinned threads about the FCR carb as they are used on the KTM 4 strokes. There are some really good threads with many pics that discuss jetting, and mods ...

Re: 6/14/08: Grand Opening at Cycle Zone in Topeka this Sat
I went over to CZ this afternoon to check out the demo bikes. I was hoping to ride a 990 ADV and a 990 Super Enduro. Upon arrival there was alot of activity going on. I inquired about the demo rides and learned they had a 990 Adv' and a 690 S-Moto. I had to sign a waiver that said if I wrecked one I...

Yeah Firepiper, you missed a good one. Larry always has a good route. Wabaunsee county, Eskridge/Alma is one of the best places in the area for unmaintained roads. Good to meet some new faces and see some of the old Vets from years gone by.

Re: you know it's time /May 24
Is this the ride that goes to that lookout point that overlooks four states? If it is, I did this a few years ago with Greenhoot at the helm. Left Lawrence early morning, had to dodge deer on the backroads coming back as the last 25 or so miles were in the dark. Then I had another 20 to get home. T...
