Re: Hillbilly ride Icon
Man that's bad news. I remember back around '99/early 2000's when there was a big contingent of DS riders in NE Kansas, doing rides where Dave was part of the group. I remember Dave as a jolly guy that liked to have fun. Below is a pic from a ride many years ago, pushing a stuck KLR out of the mud. ...

Is Otter Creek the same as the New Strawn off road area?

Re: 2017 CMA Roads and Trails Rally 9/8 - 10/2017
This area of the State has some nice roads to ride, some great unpaved Flint Hills roads and oil field trails. There is also an ORV area, Otter Creek, at the John Redman resevoir about 5 miles out of town. So the area really does have alot to offer regardless of riding style or type of bike. Burlin...

Re: Lets get some big bikes dirty this Saturday !!
Correct, Oakland is an open riding area, there is no cost. Troy, I believe you meant Carbondale costs $15 to ride for the day. The riding area was shut down for work to be done on the levee. It's been re-opened for some time. I've been riding at Oakland the last few nice weekends and it's shaping up...

I agree with the preference of a website/forum as I have a FB account but really don't do much with it. When I was working I didn't have the time, that may change now.

Re: Open Letter to the Backroads Touring Kansas Community
Good of you to make this offer Troy. I think your idea(s) have merit. I slip over to BTK every now and then to see what's happening and it's been pretty dead for some time, kind of sad to see. I think Roger had done a great job with it but peoples priorities change, (along with energy level). When I...

Myself and 2 others, (maybe 4 others) plan to do this ride and will be getting registered next week. I posted a question over on the ADV link. Looking forward to it, should be a great time.

Thanks for the reply Troy, the links were good too. I did some recon on youtube and the Mojavi had high marks so I think I'll go GL.
Thanks,

Soft luggage for EXC450
I'm looking at some soft luggage that would be used on my '07 EXC450 and SXC625. I don't have a rack on either and want to get the weight out of the camelbak. I think the Wolfman Day Tripper would work fine, (a 21" tube, irons, small air comp, some tools, some misc), but see the E-12 is 2x the size ...

Re: MOVIE: A Story Worth Living
I initially planned to see this movie if nothing else to support a bike specific movie effort. As my wife and I were driving to the theater, she pulled up the trailer and I watched it. (I watched most of it, not all). What I got was a bunch of guys, some with no riding experience at all, get matchin...

Re: Can't stop smoking
Nice looking 250 Savage, I think you will like it. Some say the 250 is the perfect balance between the 200 and 300. Looks like it has the older conventional Marzochhi, (sp?) forks on it which I've read are very good. A pipe guard might be a good idea if you ride in rocks much. What are your initial ...

It's my understanding they want to tie in the mx course AND the TT track for this race. It will be epic. Don't miss it.

Perry; If you know someone that knows there way around Perry well, (like Stu) you/he can put together a nice flowing loop and have some fun. This way you can avoid much of the roached out areas that the Quads have torn up. Without a guide, it's a parade lap from one hill to another. Guess it depends...

Need a soil sample from Wichita/Park City....
Did the Wichita/Park City area get any of the snow moisture that touched the NE part of Kansas yesterday? I don't think it went as far south as Wichita. Anyone that has an idea how dry it is in the Wichita/Park City area if you can post up that would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: Lake Perry ORV Saturday November 1st
I might try and come up about noon, depending on how a couple other things pan out Sat AM. If you go south on 75 right off the 75/24 interchange, you will see a bunch of fast food, Wendys, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Hardees, Taco Bell, etc, there is a couple of good oriental buffets, (the one behind the ...

Hey Ed,
Not to change the subject, but how do you like that 690? I rode a '14 at CZ last month and was quite impressed. At my age, I'm having a hard time getting over the price of admission though.

Re: Helmet for bigger dual sports
Try an Arai XD. A little pricey but you can custom fit the interior to fit like a glove. I bought one well used years ago and like it so much I bought another lightly used one off ADVrider. I still wear the old one all the time on both street and DS. I don't find the helmet lifts at speed. I usually...
